Wifi or Wlan?

Hello,
On my iPhone 4, in the Settings app, instead of saying Wi-Fi (in the 2nd tab), it says WLAN. Is there a difference between the two, does it change anything or nothing at all?

Hello,

Wi-Fi is the name of a data transmission technology using radio waves. WLAN is the name given to a local network utilizing this technology... or another.
Wi-Fi = Wireless Fidelity
WLAN = Wireless Local Area Network

it's the same principle the only difference is local network or not
