Grayed out WiFi button on iPhone: THE solution! Solved/Closed

Hello,
Some of us know or have this old problem with their iPhone 4 or 4s or even newer versions: Suddenly, the Wi-Fi button on the iPhone is grayed out, making that button UNUSABLE. If you're facing this issue, here's what to do (in the comments).

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 26.0

HELLO EVERYONE!!
To fix the gray WIFI issue on your iPhone
IN 10 STEPS:
1 - Open iTunes and connect your iPhone 4s to the computer with the cable.
2 - Wait for the iPhone icon to appear in the iTunes window
3 - In the START menu of the computer, search for SERVICES
4 - Click on SERVICES (the first line at the top after the search, with the gear icon)
5 - Find the line APPLE MOBILE DEVICE and click on it
6 - In the middle column, SERVICES (LOCAL) appears and below you have APPLE MOBILE DEVICE and STOP SERVICE. Click on STOP SERVICE.
7 - Let it work (it takes less than 10 seconds)
8 - Now, click on START SERVICE
9 - Let it work... (it takes less than 10 seconds as well)
10 - Close the SERVICES and iTunes windows (while unplugging the cable). Wait about 1 minute and reconnect everything.
END OF OPERATION.

Yes, yes, I sometimes ask myself questions and answer them myself!

If the WIFI BUTTON ON YOUR IPHONE is grayed out and therefore UNUSABLE, here are seven (7) points or actions, it's up to you... THE SOLUTION:

1 - First of all, make sure that the WIFI address of your iPhone is indeed present by going to:
a) Settings
b) General
c) About
d) Wifi Address.

IF in the WIFI ADDRESS line there are incomprehensible numbers that you don't care about AT ALL, then that's good! THE WIFI ADDRESS is indeed there! So, it's OK! You can move on to the next phase, phase 2!
2 - Place your iPhone powered on on a flat surface (table, countertop...), with the headphone jack facing you.
3 - Take a hair dryer. Don't have a hair dryer? What the heck!!
4 - Blow hot air into your iPhone through the 3 openings (microphone, audio output, and connector port), - basically into the back of your mobile - until a high temperature warning appears on your iPhone screen - NO STRESS - or until you have difficulty pressing the power button because it has become extremely hot (without burning your fingers, okay!).
5 - Turn off your iPhone (the shut down time may take unusually longer).
6 - Let your iPhone return to normal / room temperature, which will take about 20, 25, or 30 minutes. In short, the time to take a shower or go to the little corner while smoking one...
7 - Turn on your iPhone.
End of the operation.
And voila, job done!
The act of blowing hot air inside your iPhone through the 3 openings mentioned above helps melt/heating slightly the contact points. The consequence when your iPhone returns to normal temperature is to re-establish these contact points in question.
It's true, it's really annoying not to be able to access Wifi because it’s grayed out and thus unusable. Especially when you have a limited Wifi plan like 250 MB, 1 Mega and you can't connect to your Box's Wifi at home... But this is THE solution to this problem!!
Deduction and conclusion?? This question is RESOLVED!

I just used a hairdryer on my iPhone 4s with iOS 8 and for now it's good, the wifi has come back. I hope it stays that way
The problem appeared after the update to iOS 8 with significant battery loss and overheating of the iPhone

After 9 weeks without Wi-Fi and with all the repairers in town and Apple telling me it was irreparable, I took advantage of an offer and resigned myself to buy an iPhone 5C.
I had resolved to sell my iPhone to the Argus at Fnac or at Darty.
Once my new iPhone arrived, I completely erased the old iPhone and suddenly the Wi-Fi started working again!!
Now I have 2 iPhones. The advantage is that I can sell it for a higher price.
It's crazy that Apple didn't think of this, and yet I had done all possible manipulations with them including resetting but only the network settings....
It seems like they do it on purpose so that we buy a new one, especially since mine was already a replacement six months ago because the previous one had the same problem.

Hello,
Incredible, it's working. My 4S has cyclical Wi-Fi connections. Apple offered to exchange it for 199 euros. I took it to a smartphone repair shop that charged me 20 euros without managing to fix it.
Last night I tried the hairdryer. At the time, nothing happened. And this morning, oh miracle, the Wi-Fi has reappeared!!

I couldn't believe it, but it works!!!

After restoring my iPhone and being told by Apple support that I'm the only one experiencing this issue and that it would cost me €211 for the repair since it's no longer under warranty, I took it to an iPhone repair shop that informed me this was the only issue they don't repair and that they don't know of any shop that does...

I didn't have much to lose... I hadn't had Wi-Fi for 2 months...

Thanks for the tip anyway!!! I think for €211 Apple must be doing the same thing!!! ??

Hello I just put my iPhone 4S 15 mns in the freezer and my wifi is no longer greyed out and it's working normally (I don't know for how long!!!) Thanks for your tips.

I simply turned off the iPhone by pressing the top button and the round button at the bottom of the screen simultaneously for a few seconds, and it turned off without asking for anything. I turned it back on normally, and right away it found all the networks in the area!! By the way, it’s an iPhone 5c.

Wow! To my great surprise! It worked! The phone never said it was overheating but the power button was hot. So I shut it down and turned it off. I waited 30 minutes. I had to re-enter the WEP key and voilà! WiFi is fine!!!

Thank you very much for this valuable advice. It may not hold for long but at least there is a simple solution to this problem!

Proceed as follows:
Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that Airplane mode is turned off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairings, Wi-Fi passwords, as well as VPN settings and access point name settings.
Make sure your device is using the latest version of the software. To do this, connect the device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
