...I don't understand anything...

So I'm running "troubleshoot" with msn and it gives a ! "Default gateway" and error " 80072ee7 "...
With fire fox it says "server not found"...
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

to modify the gateway:

go to Control Panel > Network Connections
Right-click on the connection that has appeared > click on Properties
In the new window, in the General tab, click on TCP/IP Protocol
Click on General > Obtain an IP address automatically

Here we go!... I'm sending you a kiss!
Thank you very much... I had the same problem and after fiddling around in every direction, I applied your "technique" and everything is working again now.... Phew!

How is it possible that this happens without us (at least, I believe) touching anything?

THANK YOU and thanks again!

For me, it was the DNS address that was causing the problem. When I checked the TCP/IP settings, I had "obtain an IP address automatically" checked, but (just below) a specific DNS address was set -> by checking "obtain DNS server addresses automatically," I immediately restored my wired connection (it wasn't enough to fix the Wi-Fi connection, but that will come now that I have internet access...:-) ). Thank you for this advice that pointed me in the right direction...

Thank you for your reply...

He hasn't wanted to open MSN or any web page since last night...

Moreover, we are two on the Wi-Fi connection... the other computer isn't experiencing the same problem as mine... :S

Personally, I had the same error and it actually came from a synchronization issue with my internet connection from my live box
so there are 2 solutions: either unplug it, the "brutal" method
or go into the live box configuration, my services, internet access, disconnect then reconnect...
everything got sorted out after that
but hey, I'm not a computer pro either... I just manage, let's say
but if this can help you...
