Hard drive memory split into two parts?

Good evening, I have an Acer Aspire E300 JB7T desktop computer running Windows XP Professional. When I open the case of my computer, I see 2 hard drives.
When I turn on the PC and go to Start > Computer, I see 4 disk drives, so I thought that the 2 drives inside my computer were split into 2 parts. However, the question I was wondering is: can I combine the memory of a hard drive into a single partition to have more GB on my hard drives?

    I think the parts you are talking about are partitions. So your two physical drives would both be partitioned. To merge two partitions, you would need to start by backing up all the data on your drive. Then, the easiest way would be to use the installation CD of your system to reinstall it. With the interface at the beginning, you should be able to manage the partitions of your two drives, format them, split them, or more interestingly for you, merge them.

      Do the partitions you want to merge include the system partition? If so, the operation seems difficult or even impossible without formatting (and thus losing your system). However, if the partitions are on another disk, you can try using software like EaseUS Partition Master, which should normally allow you to delete the partitions to create one single partition. Again, I believe it is difficult to do this without data loss, so be sure to back up!
