Hello, I am using Virtual DJ v. 7.4 Broadcaster. The music stored comes from my CDs and is in MP3 or WMA format.
I have created a subdirectory for each CD.
I highlight all the tracks from the CD. In file info, I fill in the "artist" and "album" fields and then click on "Apply to all". This correctly puts the artist and album name on each track.
However, it happens that when I open Virtual DJ a few days later, the "artist" info has disappeared from some tracks. Or the "album" info has disappeared from all the tracks.
I can't find any logic in this problem. Did I misconfigure something?
Does anyone have an explanation?
Thank you and have a great day.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 27.0

Hello, I am using Virtual DJ Pro Full Version 7.4.1 Pro with Windows 7. I noticed that it's necessary to check that the file "VirtualDJ Local Data v6," which saves the tags, is the same in the directory and on the drive where the music files are stored as it is in the directory: "My Documents/VirtualDJ." The comparison is made using the file size in bytes. For example: 6,430 KB.
When files are on different drives, Virtual DJ prioritizes the "VirtualDJ Local Data v6" from the "My Documents/VirtualDJ" directory.
I remain available for further information, best regards...

Hello Grandpa DJ. Thank you for your response. I checked. My hard drive is partitioned. The music files are on a D drive where there is also a Virtual DJ local Data file (modified on 03/24/2014). On C, in My Documents/Virtual DJ, I also have a Virtual DJ local Data file (modified in 12/2013).
If I understand correctly, the information I put in File Info is saved on D, and when I reopen Virtual DJ, it looks for the ones on C.
Would deleting the Virtual DJ local Data file from C solve the problem? Thank you for your help and have a great day.

Hello,
Just copy the file "VirtualDJ Local Data v6" from drive D without moving it and install it in the "My Documents/VirtualDJ" folder. For safety, do not delete the previous one but move it by creating a "Archive Vdj Local Data Base" folder, which allows you to go back in case of malfunction.
I remain available for further information, best regards...

Hello,
I'm following up on the subject, I have the same problem.
I use Mp3Tag to complete music files.
=> VirtualDj - when I go to CONFIG/BROWSER everything is enabled.
When I go back to the playlist, I right-click then file info.
There I see that my modified dates appear below 'Year' (I have: tag 2001 for example). If I want the change to actually take effect, I have to click on the little arrow that goes up and then the date appears.
Isn't there another trick?
Thanks in advance for the information ;-)

A small correction to the previous message. On C, the file is called VirtualDJ Database V6 and on D, it is called VirtualDJ LOCAL Database V6.
That being said, I did as you explained. I copied the file from D to C. I now have 2 files on C (Database and Local Database). I opened Virtual DJ thinking I would recover the lost file information. That's not the case. But maybe that's normal, and I will have to re-enter them again. I think that before each opening of VirtualDJ, I need to copy the file from D to C.
This process seems cumbersome. I am currently entering all my CDs, and each time, I provide the file information. Is there no way to configure Virtual DJ to use the file directly from disk D?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards

Good evening, the music files being on drive D, Virtual DJ refers to the database "VirtualDJ Local Data v6" which is located at the root of drive D.
All modifications made through the "File Info" dialog, accessed via file information and confirmed by "OK", are taken into account by the database.
I recommend proceeding CD by CD while checking the acceptance of tag modifications.
I remain available for further information, best regards...

Thank you. I will proceed as indicated. I will keep you updated on the progress in a few days.
Have a good evening.

Hello. It seems (since I don't have enough perspective to confirm it) that the "Apply to all" function is causing the problem. I select a subdirectory where the artist's name (the same for the entire subdirectory) is not provided. I highlight all the titles. I open "file info". I enter the artist's name in the appropriate field. I click on "Apply to all" and "OK". The artist's name appears correctly on all lines. I close VirtualDJ. I restart it. In the relevant subdirectory, the artist's name has disappeared. I re-enter the artist's name for a single title. I copy/paste it to the next title, and so forth for each of the other titles, clicking "Apply" and "OK" for each title (it's time-consuming). I exit VIRTUAL DJ. I reopen it. And there, the artist's name is indeed present on each title. Either there is a bug in VIRTUAL DJ (this is a legally purchased version) and in that case, other users must have encountered this problem. Or I am misusing the software. Before posting on this forum, I went to the VIRTUALDJ one, where I did not find a similar case. I could not find a link to ask a question. I will go back there and look again.
Maybe another track: The TAGS. I am not a DJ, and I do not quite understand what they are for. In some fields of the "File info" window, I have "no tag" and in others, there is the info from the field above. Do I need to fill them out systematically? Note that in some "File info" windows, the TAG boxes do not appear!
Thanks for the answers from Papy DJ and any other users who can help me.
