Hello,
I have an old issue with my backup and I can't seem to resolve it. It goes well but at the end I get a message saying that it did not complete correctly. Here is the text:
"An issue was encountered while backing up the file E:\Pictures\My photos\Various demo images. Error: (The specified path cannot be found. (0x80070003))"
At one time I fiddled a bit and I must have moved some folders. Despite all my attempts, I am unable to fix this problem.
If someone can help me, I thank you.
See you later
Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 33.0.1750.154

Hello
But if you fiddled with and moved files, which files?
You shouldn’t be surprised if you get this message >The system cannot find the path specified
I think you will need to delete the backup and create a new one.

Hello,
Actually, I think it's in the "sample Pictures" folder that I moved and renamed. However, isn't this folder some sort of "system folder" that we shouldn't touch? I might be mistaken, but once before I moved the "favorites" folder, which you also shouldn't touch (unless you're experienced), and I had a problem then too.
As for deleting and redoing the backup, I've already done it at least 10 times without any results.
Talk to you later. -
No! Sample Pictures is not a system folder in Windows.
It's something you downloaded? like Miscellaneous Images
And maybe associated with your PICTURES folder.

When I transferred all my photos to my second hard drive (E), I also wanted to "take" the folder called "sample images" (where there are lots of Windows images) which is under C\users\public\public images\sample images. I named it "various demo images...". That's where I must have made a mistake. I think (?) I must have put it back in its original place and that the backup is still looking for it on E. I haven't downloaded anything.

But it's normal that if you back up a drive and then move and rename folders, Windows can't find the path to that folder.
And for us, it's difficult to tell you what you should do; only you can know what you've been tinkering with.
It's the same with system Recovery; some people fiddle with it, and then the Recovery is messed up and unusable.

I agree with you, but I need to find a solution. I just formatted my hard drive and did a complete backup that took a long time. A new error message has been added. It seems to be files that were deleted but left traces. Maybe we should try to find them with a special software for "poorly deleted files." I'm attaching the complete messages with the error name:
“A problem was encountered while backing up the file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\My Music\Roberto Alagna. Error: (The specified path was not found. (0x80070003))
A problem was encountered while backing up the file E:\Pictures\Mes photos\Divers Images demo. Error: (The specified path was not found. (0x80070003))”
Thank you. -
It seems that reading your answers gives the impression that it's your Windows that's having a problem.
What do you use to format your hard drive? A Windows DVD!

I right-click on the hard drive and format it with the Windows tool? Nothing else?
-
But you can't format like that!
Windows is on C:/ and cannot be formatted without reinstalling the system.
You need the Windows DVD for that.
And is the Windows official Microsoft?

I am formatting an external hard drive that has nothing on it but my backups!!!
-
Yes, it's possible externally.
But you probably also tampered with your system in C:/Windows/!
Because you also have a problem with C:/Windows/System32/.
If you have tampered with the system, it will need to be reinstalled to fix the errors.

I have made several backups after trying a Microsoft tool that repairs errors of the type: 0x800.... The backup always ended badly.
I even have another file that cannot be found. I get the following message: "
"A problem was encountered while backing up the file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\My Music\Roberto Alagna. Error: (The specified path is not found. (0x80070003))" This file is in C and in Windows \System32... instead of E (my second internal hard drive).
This missing file must be a badly deleted file because I crashed while saving it in my music software Media Monkey. I wonder if I should search for these files with specific software (I have one called: "Recover Your Files from Micro Application) because it's possible that the other missing folder suffered the same fate?
It might be a good idea to either put them back in their places or delete them properly??? -
I think you're good for reinstalling the system.
You must have certainly moved system files from C:/ and they are missing.
Your tinkering is the cause of your problem.

On another site, someone advises me to copy C: to E (my second internal hard drive). That way, the backup could find its "little" place. I'm wondering if it's a good idea...
Doing the system restore like you said doesn't excite me. I don't think I'll do it. I'm mostly worried about all the work I've done with my music software (2000 recorded tracks) that I might not get back exactly even if I back up and copy all the elements. There are also other settings...
I'll end up figuring it out as usual. I never give up. At worst, I can continue with the error messages. It doesn't interfere with the computer's operation. -
THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED!!!
After numerous attempts of all kinds, I finally managed to successfully complete my backup without any error messages. It was obvious and simple... That's always what we say, AFTER...
I had tried several times to create the lost folders, but it had to be done with EXTREME PRECISION.
For example, I had to create a folder called “Pictures” next to my “My Photos” folder (had to think of that), which is itself in my “My Photos and My Music” folder! Computers can be silly! But that's how it is. Moreover, it was necessary to put an image in the folder. Thus, by checking the path of the lost folder by doing "Properties" ON the added image, we could find exactly the specified path.
Finally, there was an unfortunate period (.) at the end of the folder name (Misc Images demo.). And it couldn't be forgotten.
So, the lesson is always: RIGOR, RIGOR IN COMPUTER SCIENCE!
PHEW!
A big thank you to tribun for his patience and ideas. We made it together.
This problem can now be classified as solved.
