Hello,
A few weeks ago I wanted to install Ubuntu 13.10 on my laptop, which is what I did using a bootable USB drive. Unfortunately, I deleted Windows 7 at the same time... I can't do without this operating system given the programs I need to use for my courses.
So I wanted to go back to Windows, but I don't have a CD. I downloaded the trial version of Windows 8 (.iso) and I made a bootable USB drive with it.
During the installation of Windows 8, I receive this message when I have to choose on which partition to install Windows: "Windows cannot be installed in this disk space. Windows must be installed on a partition formatted as NTFS."
I then tried to use Gparted, but unfortunately when I want to unmount my partition it gives me an error message:
"Unable to unmount /dev/sda1."
The partition could not be unmounted from the following mount points:
/
It is likely that other partitions are mounted on these mount points. It is advised to unmount them manually.
So here I am a bit lost... What can I do to install Windows on my computer?
Thank you in advance for your responses... :)
PS: It is not necessary for me to keep Ubuntu for the moment.
Configuration: Linux / Chrome 32.0.1700.107

Hi,
Just before this message, for the partition selection, you should have a button (or link, I can't remember) marked "Advanced options" that you need to select, and then you will be able to delete the partitions and choose to install your system in the empty space.

I have two partitions:
Drive 0, partition 1 (total size: 461.8 Go free space: 0.0 Mo type: system)
Drive 0, partition 2 (total size: 4.0 Go free space: 0.0 Mo type: logical)
I have tabs such as "refresh", "delete", and "load a driver" that I can click on.
And then I have tabs like "format", "new", and "extend" that I cannot click on...
What should I do?
