Hello forum members,

Can anyone help me? For a while now, some of my contacts appear to be always online even when their computer is off.

What could be causing this?

Surely a kind soul can help me understand what's going on.

Thank you very much in advance.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 33.0.1750.146

Hello
The problem doesn't come from your side but from theirs. Indeed, with the development of the ability to install Skype on a multitude of different devices, if the other person only disconnects from one, they still appear to be online.

Computer, Gameboy, smartphone, etc. are all devices from which the account must be logged out in order to appear offline.
You can always reach out to customer service

I know that if you turn off the tablet without logging out of Skype first (logged out, not just closed), you can still appear online if you were on the "online" status. The same goes for smartphones.

Hello,

Thank you, Jean, for getting back to me so quickly. Another issue is that all my contacts tell me that I am always online. However, as far as I'm concerned, I only have Skype on my PC. I had installed Skype on my smartphone but uninstalled it because I didn’t know how to use it. So I assumed that would solve my problem. But not at all.

But if what you say turns out to be true, does that mean that the contacts who are showing as online for me also have the same problem???

Good evening, some yes and others no, it all depends on many things. For example, we can open the computer without going on Skype; there’s an option to say that we are connected and we can let the computer go to sleep on its own, which is not mandatory (settings) (connected but no one is there).
