I'm probably going to see my name used for future scams because I just got scammed
I put an item up for sale and David R******** contacted me. I said yes, available, and then I received the email saying, well, we discussed it, we're taking the product... and that I would pay you by money order...
It's a scam from Côte d'Ivoire, beware of the danger!!! If you have one with a name starting with an H, it's because they are using my name!!!! Because Mr. R******* exists, there is one who lives in France!!!

If you have one with a name starting with an H, it's because they're using my name
It will help future victims, such precision... And discourage real sellers.

It's the same for me.... I put my car up for sale yesterday. I first received a text from 0617766311, asking to send information about the asset by email.
So I replied by email saying that my car is available and I came across the same name Mr. and Mrs. David Jacques Rochereux... with 00225 07 89 01 35 as the number.

I found that suspicious so I typed the number into Google and came across ALL your comments.....

I haven't given my papers but they at least have my phone number and my email.... Is this risky for me??

Moreover, these idiots aren't even capable of sending an email without a spelling mistake.... Quite suspicious nonetheless for expatriates...

We have viewed your ad and it’s
with mutual agreement my husband and I decide to buy it from you.
Regarding the payment, I could send you a cash mandate via the
post since it's instantaneous and I am from AURILLAC but currently expatriated abroad with my husband for professional reasons. Given that I am returning shortly to the mainland, I decide to buy it for use when I will be at home in the mainland.

For this, my manager advises me to use an instantaneous cash mandate for all my transactions simply because it’s quick and more secure in these times.

I could make the mandate for the reservation and I would request a leave from my employers to go to your address for the pickup after you have cashed the mandate.

Regarding the mandate, as soon as I do it, I will send you the references by email which will allow you to cash the funds at your nearest post office in cash since it’s instantaneous.
So if this suits you, please send me your:

-Last name

-First name

-Firm price

-Home address as well as your phone contacts

In order to perform the mandate, after you receive them to block the sale and reserve the asset for me.

I wanted to thank you because thanks to you I confirmed my doubts about this individual as he indeed contacted me after I put my item for sale on Le Bon Coin! I found him far too confident and talkative! I received other messages with different names and when I called back privately on the mobile numbers, I couldn't reach them because supposedly the voicemail was full or the number was not assigned. To confirm my doubts, I typed the name on the internet and boom, your message popped up :) So thank you, it’s very important to report these scoundrels! Another person told me he lived in Switzerland and that his only payment method was for me to create a strange account to receive the money. I’ll check on the internet, I can't remember the name! Anyway, thank you.

  I also experienced this over the weekend. I had posted an ad on Vivastreet for the sale of a wine cellar and was contacted by email. I was a bit surprised that they were ready to pay me the full price by money order without even seeing it. Today, I received a long email with a photocopy of an ID, giving me a code for a Western Union money order, but to collect the money, I first had to deposit 99 euros. It seems too shady!!! That's why I searched for David Rochereux online. I will still report it to the police since I provided my contact details, address, and phone number. I'll let you know what they tell me.

Thank you all for your posts!!! I just received exactly the same email as above. The text arrived 5 minutes after my ad was posted on Le Bon Coin (suspicious!!!).
After discussions with those around me, I've been told that these people ask for payment by cash mandate and then request a so-called refund for shipping fees (which makes sense since they are apparently in Côte d'Ivoire)...

Hello,

Same attempt at fraud for a sale on Le Bon Coin (June 2019)!
Again Mr. Mrs. ROCHEREUX... with an almost identical email: cash mandate BUT with the tax to pay in advance! No luck, my profession, before retirement, was cybersecurity... ;-)
I reported the attempt on Le Bon Coin and on the government site: https://www.internet-signalement.gouv.fr/PortailWeb/
There was even a photo of an identity card attached...
