Hello everyone.
Here I am writing to you because I have a little problem with my PC that is driving me crazy. I own a HP Pavilion dv9000 since November 2006. It was working very well, until I used it for music at a party. I used the jack output all evening without any incident; but when the next day I wanted to use it normally, meaning without the jack output, there was no sound at all. I tried reconnecting speakers and the sound came out again, but as soon as I unplug them, nothing. As if it still thinks it’s connected to external speakers. I checked if a jack had broken inside, but nothing. I reinstalled my system and all the drivers but still nothing. Now I really don’t know what to do; so if anyone has a solution it would help me a lot. Below I am attaching all the specifications of my "dv9000".

Hello, I had the same issue with my HP Pavilion dv9000 (Windows Vista) and it turned out to be something simple. I went to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound, and there I had two devices:
- Speakers
- Realtek Digital Output
It turned out that the default device had changed by itself. It had set Realtek Digital Output instead of Speakers. You just need to change it. I don't know if it's the same issue for you. Good luck anyway.
The voices of Windows are impenetrable! -
The audio issue (at least on the Pavilion DV9304eu model) comes from the fact that you are not looking in the right place ^^
It’s quite simple actually (it took me over 5 days of research on IE ;(
HP provides support for Vista (no need to waste a moment with customer service!
If you mention XP (Pro), they will tell you that they don’t provide support for this OS (Operating System),
The only thing to know is that the "High Definition Audio" is just the new name
for the AC97 drivers from Realtek (http://www.realtek.com.tw/login
You need to download the Audio Drivers (High Definition Audio Codecs (Software)
which contains the Microsoft update for the Audio Codecs ...
Here’s a direct download link ^^ On my site ;)

Hi!
My problem is a bit different. I downgraded from Vista to XP and now I can't install the audio drivers. I came across this topic. The problem is that the link provided by Emingthon is not valid for me. I can't get anything!
I went to the HP website, but I can't get the supplied drivers to work!
So, I'm looking for these drivers so I can have sound on my PC!
Have a nice day!

Hello,
I am interested in this topic,
What surprises me is that we are talking about Realtek drivers, while the HP DV9000 is equipped with Conexant HD Audio,
Actually, I was wondering if there is an equivalent software for our HP DV9000 to the Realtek Sound Manager (for speaker configuration). Since the sound manager is from Realtek, I didn't take the risk of installing it.
How to connect a speaker kit (5.1 in particular) to the HP DV9000 (since it only has a few jack inputs by default)?
So if it is possible to install the Realtek drivers as described in the post above, do you also have access to the Sound Manager? (on which I rely to help me optimize my speaker configuration) -
Yes, I have checked all my parameters and I have no problems at this level; everything seems to be correct.
-
In terms of software that I would have used, I checked and there’s nothing at all. That's also why I did a reinstallation, and for now, I haven't added anything beyond the original software. However, what do you mean by CMI audio configuration? I can't find it in the configuration panel.

Hello again!
While searching a bit deeper online, especially on the Realtek website, I managed to retrieve drivers for the sound card. I installed them and rebooted afterwards. The sound still didn't work, so I installed the drivers suggested by HP (which appear to be an update, actually...).
I rebooted, and the machine played the nice Windows shutdown sound and the lovely Windows startup music, so the sound is back.
Therefore, I advise those who have driver issues to look for sound drivers on the Realtek website. Unfortunately, I can't provide any references as I didn’t note anything down and I just went with whatever seemed right. Only after that should you install the drivers offered by HP.
It’s a bit of a tedious procedure, but I don’t see any other way. Personally, I went through two Windows reinstallations before finding it!
Good luck, and have a nice day! -
Hello everyone
I have a similar problem. I bought an HP dv9321ea that I formatted from Vista to XP and I have no sound. I can't find a solution.
Can you please help me?
Thanks in advance. -
Regarding webcam issues on DV9xxx under Vista, there is a known malfunction with HP's customer service. The HP repair center simply installs a patch and it usually works again afterwards.
-
Here is the solution that should work for all HP Pavilion laptops! Before installing the sound driver, you need to install the Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for HD Audio. For my part, I just did the installation with Windows 2000 on a dV9351ea and it works.

As mentioned, I am still looking for the driver to manage the webcam! -
-
I also want to add that I just had the same problem. No sound even though everything was fine, except for Audacity, which I had used before and the volume slider was at minimum. Just to let you know that something like that can cut off the sound. See you later, Bin.

Hello,
I had the same problem as you with my portable PC dv9321ea, the webcam and other things were not working, and on a forum, I learned that HP, when transitioning from XP to Vista, simply added 100 to their PC number. So mine under Vista dv9321ea becomes under XP dv9221ea. I went on the HP website, downloaded the drivers for the dv9221ea, and everything is now working perfectly. I hope I have helped you.
Best regards. -
I have a friend who had the same problem as this, I'm saying "had" because I found the trick! Here it is!
No, let me explain. First of all, after installing Windows LSD3, you need to push all the updates, except for the WGA one, but that's a detail. Next, download the SP2 pack, and once the SP2 pack is installed, Windows will automatically detect the sound card "conexant..." and the "ethernet" modem! You just need to download the drivers from the HP site. Type "HP support" into Google and check for the drivers you need. For me, it was the driver for a dv9000. But I chose the dv9000 notebook, not the others. There’s no reason it shouldn't work for you. My friend has a zv6000, and in the MSN settings, the sound was detected as a "conexant high..." sound card, so there was no reason it shouldn’t work, especially since she originally had XP. Knowing a bit about manufacturers! We don’t change something that works, so the sound cards are all the same, give or take a little, but everything is available on the HP site! Good luck to all, and if you have any problems, email me! -
Good evening, my problem is different
on my DV 9083EA pavilion, as soon as I touch the sound control on the quick play bar, no keyboard commands work anymore, and I have to force it to shut down
HP cannot find a solution, and you? -
I sometimes have the same problem as you... I didn't understand, even after making all the possible changes, there was nothing to do.
DISABLE YOUR WEBCAM AND THEN REACTIVATE IT!!! It worked for me
Good luck -
Hello, sorry to bother you with a similar issue, but I've searched all over the web, downloaded like 999999 drivers, and in the end, the problem is still not resolved )=
Here is my problem:
I bought an HP Pavilion dv9000 at the beginning of last year with Vista included, but this O/S is seriously starting to annoy me.
Too many lags!!!!
So, I decided to get rid of Vista and incorporate XP Pro that I had on my old machine into my laptop.
The problem is that I can't find the driver for my sound card, which is (according to alllesdrivers.com):
Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation | Class: unknown
If someone knowledgeable in this area could tell me where to find this driver (if it exists ^^) and how to install it, that would be really nice of them
Thanks everyone -
Edit: I just entered the serial number of my laptop in the HP website database,
so the computer is of the model dv9313ea.
