Hello;
I just acquired Still Life, I installed it and it starts but the screen is black. I have Vista, is it possible that it is not compatible? Thank you for your help, I am a novice when it comes to computers. Thank you, have a great day.

For those who want to play it and don't know how to do so, I've found a solution that works for me: download and install the Still Life patch for Windows Vista (I previously had Windows Vista and didn't have any issues). Right-click on the Still Life game icon on your desktop, go to properties, compatibility, and click on "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and choose Windows NT4. Then check "Run in 256 colors," disable visual themes, and run this program as an administrator. That should work.
A quick reminder:
1) Download and install the patch
2) Right-click on the game icon
3) Properties, compatibility, Windows NT4
4) Check "Run in 256 colors," disable visual themes, and run the program as an administrator.
For me, it works, even though I'm on Windows 7 64-bit.
Thanks to this, you should no longer have the black screen issues I experienced. -
Thank you also because I was struggling for 2 hours - I’ve done it before and I wanted to do it again - so thanks for this patch.

Hello, I received an email from Mindscape stating that Still Life is not compatible with Vista. They even emphasized that it was specified. I'm very disappointed; I would have liked to be able to play it finally. I've heard that you can install XP in addition to Vista and that during startup you could choose. Do you know anything about this? Thank you.

I had the same problem and I solved it by playing on my other computer lol.

To play Still Life on Vista:
Right-click on the game launch icon: in properties - compatibility, set it to Windows NT 4 and check "disable visual themes". It worked for me, I hope it works for you too! -

Hello,
I have the same black screen issue when launching Still Life on Vista and I tried the workaround recommended by blbl, but the protection system prevents me from starting in compatibility mode. It only accepts XP, which inevitably shows the black screen. Does any of you know how to disable the protection system?
Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, I would like to know how to play Still Life lol, I don't understand anything about these computers, especially Vista.

Hi everyone, I see that the installation problem with Stille Life still hasn't been resolved...
I've already played Stille Life but I can't play it again.

Thank you very much! Last year I played it because I had Windows XP, but now that I have a new PC running VISTA and I wanted to play it again: no way! But thanks to your ethancarter patch, it works great XD

Hello
I have a problem with Vista and this game, I tried to install the patch, but I must not be skilled because a message indicates a missing....., it's horrible, if someone could tell me what to do?
I also have the same issue with Jack the Ripper, no way to do anything even when setting it to XP for compatibility.
Best regards
