Hello,

I'm repairing a PC for a friend who burned out his power supply and motherboard.
The new power supply (Corsair CX 430 80+ Bronze) does not have a JPWR 2 (4-pin) connector.
Is it mandatory to connect it to the motherboard (MSI B85MA-E31)?

    The connector you are looking for, the one that completes the CPU power supply, is definitely present on your PSU, I’m sure of it.
    However, on modern PSUs, it often comes in the form of a detachable 8-pin split into two 4-pin pieces.
    Explanation: the power required for certain processors has increased since the Pentium 4 (the first processors to require this additional connector), and most current motherboards contain an 8-pin port, hence the presence of this 8-pin connector on your PSU.
    You separate it into two parts and then insert one of the two 4-pin connectors into the 4-pin port on your motherboard (there are notches so you won't make any mistakes).

    I separated the 8-pin which becomes a 4+4 pin, everything works.
