Play a DVD without InterActual Player

Good evening,

I can't find a solution to play a DVD without Interactual Player. The DVD prompts me to install this player, which I don't want to do because between the built-in video app in Windows 8 and VLC, I believe I'm well-equipped. I tried playing the movie with VLC, and I get to the main menu, but when I try to start the film, the player encounters "problems and needs to close." I was even desperate enough to attempt to install Interactual Player, but there are compatibility issues.

Do you have a solution to propose?

Reinstall VLC. After that, there are protected DVDs. Therefore, you have to use their video player because it's the only one that can read it

I tried, but I already had the latest version of VLC, so reinstalling didn't help. I've reluctantly tried to install their player, but there's a compatibility issue, which leaves me out of options.

      Thanks for the response anyway.

For compatibility, right-click and use compatibility mode.

The thing is that as soon as I try to launch the DVD and consequently install the program, the message that appears is: "This program has compatibility issues." The choice I have is between "Get help online," which doesn't really help me, or "Run the program without help," which brings up the player and another message telling me "Cannot find a correct DVD decoder. You may need to reinstall your decoder."
