I am about to order an item from abroad.
They are asking me for the NIF number, what is it?
What is it used for and where can I find it?

Does a website that asks for the NIF number justify its seriousness or at least its professional character?

    in principle the NIF is in Spain

    NIF = Tax Identification Number

    maybe other countries have adopted it

    but in principle it is for foreigners owning real estate in Spain

      It is the Tax Identification Number
      that will be used for local taxes, opening a bank account, and any correspondence with the administration.
