Following an announcement posted on Le Bon Coin, I received this proposal
Good evening
After reflection, I agree to buy it from you as it is
I inform you that I am from Moulins (03), however, I am currently
traveling (outside France). I would therefore like to proceed with the sale by
reserving the item as I will have little time upon my return to take care of it due to work.
In that case, I plan to send you the total funds initially via a payment through postal services, and once you have the money, we will set a date to agree on an appointment at your home for collection. So if you agree to this
principle, please provide me with the following information so that I can send you the funds as soon as tomorrow morning.
-Name
-First names
-Address
-Final price
-Landline and mobile number
Upon receiving this information, I will take the necessary steps at the post office
Looking forward to hearing from you
Ms. SANDRA OSTINET

Thanks to your site, I sensed the scam, but I would like to know if you have clarified the question I am asking: "What can the collected information be used for, what risks are there for us? What steps can be taken to prevent the spread of these individuals?"

    Come on, one more.
A simple search on the forum would have been enough to give you a few thousand answers.

It's getting serious all these scams that are springing up and people who fall for them. The bigger the scam, the more people jump in with both feet.

Sending money to get paid? Yes, that's well known!
I'm going to pay my employer to receive my salary.

I appreciate your feedback and your common sense, but what would you do if you were caught in the game of a scammer?

What we want to know are the answers, the solutions if we find ourselves caught in the clutches of a scammer. What you say when people jump in with both feet is not obvious for them, but why don’t you tell us what to do when we are caught in the game of one of these fraudsters? We would be all ears for your knowledge to help us out of their clutches.

Alan, are you aware that when a person is caught by one of them, it’s good advice they need? So tell us how to get out of their grip if you know how.

Be compassionate for the misfortune of those who experience this; they need good advice from people like you. You can make all the difference by helping those who have no solutions to get out of it because no one is safe from such misfortune. You can make all the difference in their bad luck.

So thank you for your willingness to help those who are distressed by people seeking to do evil around them, especially to those who do not deserve such punishment.

Do not be angry at my reflection, which is simply human and wishes for good around me. I thank you for your willingness to help those in need of people like you.

Best wishes to you and those you sincerely love, a big thank you.

      Nathou. L

It's unfortunately well known that they can use your personal details to steal your identity, whether during a police check or to use your identity in any situation. To avoid any risk, file a complaint or report this issue at a police station to prevent any unpleasant surprises due to something you haven't done.
In such cases, it's REALLY better to prioritize prevention over healing, because if it comes to that, you wouldn't have anything on your side to defend yourself, unless you provide evidence.

    Best regards.

I experienced the same thing yesterday, except this one actually had a passport in this name, which is probably not theirs.

    "Hello
So if you agree in principle, please provide me with the following information so that I can send you the funds:

    -Name-First names-Address-Phone contacts-Flat price

Upon receipt of this information, I will take the necessary steps tomorrow to finalize the sale and will ask a forwarder to come to pick it up from you and reserve it for me until my return.
I hope to count on your honesty since you will have the money before we retrieve the item.

    Sincerely

      Good evening
Thank you for your quick response, I agree to buy it from you, and at the same time,
I would like to inform you that I live in the Cognac region (16),
but at the moment I am traveling for an art exhibition and will not return for another 3 weeks.
Therefore, I would like to proceed with the sale by making a reservation as I will have little time upon my return to take care of it due to work.
If this is acceptable to you, I plan to send you the full price of your item through an international cash transfer, which is an instant postal payment that you would easily be able
to collect the money at the post office near you; I will arrange for a courier to come to your address for the pickup.
So if you agree in principle, please provide me with the following information so that I can send you the funds:

      -Name-First name-Address-Phone Contact-fixed price

As soon as I receive this information, I will take the necessary steps tomorrow morning to finalize the sale and will ask a courier
to come to your place for the pickup of the item and keep it until my return.
I hope I can count on your honesty since you will have the money before we retrieve the item.

Thank you Alan, my feet have definitely stayed on the ground which is why I consulted you. You who seem very daring, what have you done to avoid this scam when you find a message on your mobile phone? How can you sniff out a scam? What action did you take? Did you file a complaint or not?

      Hello,
a person outside of France for "travel" (the basis of scams), a request for money afterwards with lots of promises, a language that is not correctly phrased (foreigner, therefore), a phone number that is not French either. All these are clues that indicate it's a scam.

Outside of France, in Ivory Coast, stop all contact and above all, never send money!

To send a package, you must wait to have the money to send it (and check properly). Paypal and other banks, by the way, never ask you to pay to activate an account, and even less via email. A request for money that will make you a "millionaire" (yes, well, it's more likely the scammer who will become a millionaire, and you ruined). Santa Claus does not exist, I'm sorry. We do not live in a perfectly rosy world.

Unfortunately, filing a complaint is useless since it happens in Ivory Coast. What's next? Simply cut all contact with the scammer.

If money has been sent, it has indeed disappeared from your bank account.

I believe I am a victim of a new scam attempt from Mr. and Mrs. FERNANDES DELPHINE Epse KAUFMANN
    Here is the letter received.
After reading your email and the details of your rental offer on the site http://leboncoin.fr, we agree to reserve with you from October 3 to October 24, 2020 for two people (a couple)
If the desired date is no longer available, please let us know a date available with you, or we can conclude with you
We would therefore like to book as soon as possible with a reservation deposit paid in advance.
The security deposit and the balance we will pay when we are on site for the key handover, either by certified bank check or in cash, according to your convenience.
Regarding the payment of the deposit, we plan to do it as soon as possible via a postal money order through the postal services, which you would have the convenience of cashing in cash at your local post office for a definitive reservation
So if you agree to the deposit payment by money order, please let us know the following information so that we can send you the deposit.
    A rental contract (Optional)
    The amount of the deposit
    Your full name
    Your complete address
Your phone contacts (mobile and landline)
If we are in mutual agreement, you can remove the chosen date from the website calendar since we are going to conclude with you

NB: We were traveling for a conference before the lockdown due to the current health situation, so I leave you our main address

      Hello,

The identities provided are in the vast majority of cases identities that have been hijacked during previous scams. They will therefore be removed here if their legitimate holders request it.

Indeed, publishing these names, even though it informs that they are currently used in attempts at fraud, only harms the "real" people who have fallen victim and are now struggling to cope with the heavy consequences that result...

Furthermore, when an identity is "overused".... the criminals use another one.... and that one... will be used to trap you if you only rely on the names to "protect" yourself.... (Moreover, depending on the scenarios, once trapped, it will be your names that will be found in the forum....... )

The only way to protect yourself is to take into account the scenario, its context, the way emails are written, payment methods, etc., etc...

    Good evening,
Okay, I’ll buy it from you. After seeing the photos, which I find truly beautiful, I see that it is in rather good condition. However, I want to inform you that I am traveling for professional reasons with my husband. That being said, I will send you the money via postal services, which you will receive in cash for the reservation. Given its impeccable condition, we believe there are others interested. After cashing the money order, we will set a date that suits you for pick-up. Furthermore, if you agree in principle, I will need your complete address, full name, phone contacts, and the final price for shipping as soon as possible for the reservation. I am counting on your good faith since you will have the money well before pick-up.
    Best regards,
