Shrunken desktop screen

Solved

Hello,

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 26.0
The desktop screen has shrunk and is centered on the monitor. There are large black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
How can I return to the normal size?
Furthermore, the text display is smaller and less readable.
How can I revert to the usual situation? Wouldn't a system restore be the best and simplest solution?
Thank you

Hello.

I don't think it's necessary to see a repairman for such a small issue. Maybe Rachid forgot to mention that in the customize window, you need to scroll down to
display settings. From there, choose the resolution by sliding the button. In my opinion, 1280 X 768 pixels is the most common and fits the screen well. Then click OK. You can certainly try others.

This is just a suggestion ... See you later

Re ... I apologize for the oversight. Happy New Year to you and your family!

To enlarge the text, open Control Panel > Ease of Access Center >
Make the computer easier to see > Change the size of text > continue > Custom scale
> enter 105 or 110 % (or another value but be careful as icons also enlarge > apply > OK

For Google, click on the customize button in the top right corner and choose the zoom percentage (110-120% is quite good)

Regarding the faintness of the text, I don't know what computer you have. If it's a laptop, I'm not sure. However, on a monitor screen you will need to use the buttons, including the menu, to adjust the contrast and brightness of the screen.

These procedures apply to Windows Vista. There may be slight modifications with Windows 7 but I don't think so.

If everything works, please confirm. Thank you

See you ...

Thank you for the reply.
I do have access to the background but I can't find "adjust." The only option I've found in the background section, where you choose the wallpaper, is "browse," which allows you to select a folder. Where can I find "adjust"?
Thank you.

Hello,,

Are you really using the "Windows 7" system?!! ,, because I think you are using "Windows XP",,
Or maybe it could be the resolution of the wallpaper you chose, which allows for the display of the two black bars!! try changing to a background that has a different resolution than the first!!!

Hello,
I have the full version of Windows 7, but I'm still stuck. So no solution.
Thank you for your help, and I will have to get assistance from the seller of the PC.
See you!

Hello Jojolaguitare.... and Happy New Year 2014.
Thank you for the additional information that finally allowed me to cover the entire screen with 1280x1024 pixels. It's about time.
If I may ask another question.
The Google menu bar appears small and I don't know if we can enlarge the size of the terms like File, Edit, etc. And the words are displayed faintly. Can we enlarge and darken the words to make them easier to read?
I'm having the same difficulty reading my emails due to the faintness of the words. If you have a quick and reliable solution (I'm tired of struggling), it would be welcome!!
Talk to you later.

Hello,
I realized that ever since I tried to speed up the PC by reducing visual effects, the issues above have appeared. So I reversed the changes, and after restoring the previous situation, everything went back to normal. They don't tell you everything if you make changes that don't have such a significant effect.
However, there's a new issue; I can no longer eject my external hard drive, and the Unlocker solution won't download. What should I do? I had backed up my files, and I wouldn't want to risk losing everything.

Hello.

Indeed, modifying a computer's visual behavior can sometimes create surprises that we'd rather do without.
Otherwise, have you tried this software? I don't know its worth, as I haven't encountered this problem yet. https://www.clubic.com/telecharger-fiche206956-usb-disk-ejector.html
I haven't found it elsewhere (besides the dreadful softonic or 01 net) but I think Clubic is more reliable; however, be careful with the download. Before installing it on the PC, run a Malwarebytes scan on the download.

See you later...

Hello again,
Having become very wary of downloading software, I avoid downloading it as much as possible. On the other hand, I completely agree with you about the more or less dubious links mentioned. But how to run a Malware... on the download? I have never done this test. It would be interesting to know.
Out of frustration, I called the builder of my PC who told me to simply unplug the external hard drive, no problem!!! That's what I've just done and I'm waiting a bit before plugging the external hard drive back in to let it recover from its emotions...
As soon as I plug it back in and check that everything is in order, I will keep you posted.
See you later.

Hello Jojolaguitare,
I confirm that my DDE seems to be working normally after being unplugged as advised by the seller. I haven't been able to check any specific backups, but I think everything is OK.
Thanks again for your help.
Best regards.

You need to go to your control panel, and in the Appearance and Personalization category, there's the subcategory Change Screen Resolution. Click there, and you'll see the resolution. Apply the one that is recommended, and everything should be set back to default.

Hello,

you have selected the "fit" option for the wallpaper, which is why you see these two black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
To restore the desktop screen to its normal state:
Right-click on the desktop, then choose "Personalize".
Next, select "background", and there where it says "fit", set it to "center" or another option!
