Unable to create desktop shortcut

Hello,
For the past few days, I haven't been able to create a shortcut on my desktop by any means : /
When I click on the icon I want a shortcut for and select 'Send to Desktop', my PC tells me: "Unable to create the shortcut, check if the disk is full."
However, I checked online and couldn't find anything conclusive. This happened to me last year, but I can't remember how the issue got resolved! Could it be a permissions problem?

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 29.0.1547.66

try restoring the system to an earlier date; this will not affect your personal files and documents:
