My FUJIFILM device is locked...

Hello,

I have a Fujifilm S2980 camera stuck on "turn off the camera and turn it back on," but nothing happens. I tried giving a slight tap on the lens, no results. I am DESPERATE.. What should I do??
Setup: Windows 7 / Chrome 23.0.1271.97

    Check if there are any dirt trapped between the rings of the lens, pass a piece of thin and rigid plastic (water bottle wall) between the rings to clean.
    If this has no effect and the lens remains extended, do not "give a light tap" but press firmly with the palm of your hand, straight and strong while pressing the OFF button at the same time.

      Mine is the same, it's turned off and impossible to turn back on. Before, I had to do several on/off cycles before it would start, and now nothing at all, even though I've changed the batteries. It only lights up for a second and that's it.
