#FF stands for Friday Follow or Follow Friday, as the name suggests, the tweet containing this hashtag is published on Fridays by users.
The purpose can be diverse but generally it's to recommend the person or people mentioned, because their content is interesting or for other reasons.
It also serves to thank the person or people for following us in a concise message.
Advantages: it brings visibility to the profile; if we receive a #FFback mention, our profile is mentioned on the other user's timeline, and thus we become a recommendation in turn.
