PXE-E61 error: Échec du test de média, vérifiez le câble.

Good evening everyone,

After trying to resolve the startup issue with my HP Pavilion zt1130 laptop running Windows XP Pro, which hasn’t started since last Sunday morning, I turned to this forum to find a solution to this problem.
The issue is that as soon as I power on my laptop and set the hard drive as the first boot option, the following message appears:

1133 Mhz Mobile Celeron CPU
Intel Processor Update Rev 01Dh Complete
External Cache: 256k installed

When I set the CD-ROM as the first boot option, the following message appears: Not bootable CD-ROM

When I set Internal LAN as the first boot option, the following message displays:

Realtek RTL8139(A/B/C)/RTL8130 Boot Agent
Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 082)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
For Realtek RTL8139(A/B/C)/RTL8130 PCI Fast Ethernet Controller v2.11b()(010315)
PXE-E61: Media Test failure, check cable
PXE-MOF: Existing PXE ROM

Therefore, I don't know what to do to get the PC to restart normally. Thank you in advance for all your help and suggestions.

    Okay, I will try to do everything you just asked me to see what it will give in the end. I just tried to boot from a Win XP Pro installation CD, but I received the following message:

    1133 MHz Mobile Celeron CPU
    Intel Processor Update Rev 01Dh Complete
    External Cache: 256k installed
    Boot CD-ROM Type: Non-Emulation Booting

    Press any key to boot from CD.....

    When I pressed a key on the keyboard, I received the following message:
    Set up is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration.....

    which appears and then disappears quickly, but nothing else shows up. Does anyone have an idea of the situation please?

    Hello,
    Press the esc key when starting the computer, and check in the BIOS if your hard drive is detected.
    Can you hear your hard drive starting up? Or shutting down during a sudden stop?

    I just did what you asked me to do and I noticed that the BIOS normally detects my 40 GB hard drive as well as the TOSHIBA DVD/CD-ROM Drive, but the following message still appears:

    1133 Mhz Mobile Celeron CPU

    External Cache: 256k installed
    What else should I do?

    Good evening,
    Try pressing F2 at startup to choose to boot from your hard drive (in case your boot sequence is misconfigured). Let me know what you get

    While searching on the forum, I found that this problem occurs because the computer is trying to boot from a Network device and fails to do so, asking us to check that a (Network) cable is properly connected. I saw that users have had this problem in the past, and many ended up finding a solution to this annoying issue. I plugged in an RJ45 cable to the computer, and I received the following message:

    Hi, can you disable all other boot methods except for the hard disk drive and see what that does?
    Otherwise, you could try making a live CD or a bootable USB drive with Linux and boot from that (you will of course need to re-enable USB disk or optical drive in the boot sequence) to see if you have access to your hard drive (to check if it hasn't failed) (or simply connect it to another machine).
