Which speakers for THOMSON DPL660HT home theater amplifier?

Hello,

I currently have a THOMSON DPL660HT amplifier with the original speakers (5 small speakers + a subwoofer).
The sound seems a bit weak to me, and I would like to replace the original speakers with columns or others, but it's a bit of a jungle when it comes to speakers... I'm not really sure what I need.
The amplifier is in a living room of about 40m2, and I don't need huge sound power, I just want the sound to be balanced in terms of treble/mids/bass.
What do you recommend?

    Hi,

    Thomson is a "dry" amplifier, it needs "dynamic" speakers such as Jamo, Eltax, JVC for example.

    What is your region and your budget?

    I live 10 minutes from Lyon.

    So if I understood correctly, I need dynamic speakers. Ok.
    I'm quite tempted by the Jamo brand, but what should I choose: just two floor-standing speakers, or 5 speakers (2 floor-standing speakers, a center speaker, and 2 satellites)?

      Well, it depends on your musical tastes and your "choice"; there’s no obligation. For example, I’m satisfied with compact front speakers while others prefer big towers, and some have towers plus one or two subwoofers.

    For a 5.1 home theater system, with a subwoofer, there's no point in choosing towers. The main difference between towers and bookshelf speakers is that towers can more easily reach lower frequencies.
    I think you should choose high-quality bookshelf speakers for the front, while the rear speakers are generally less critical in terms of quality; it's just important to maintain a certain consistency in your selection. For the center channel, a good midrange speaker.

    Between a complete Jamo set at 180 euros and the JEAN MARIE REYNAUD system offered at 2300 euros, we're not playing in the same league, and my wallet has spoken...
