Copy of folder without duplicates

Hello,

I have an external hard drive on which I back up my photos, videos, etc...

Every month or so, I do a copy-paste of my internal hard drive (without the software of course. The internal hard drive contains only my personal documents).

However, the majority of these folders and files are already on the external hard drive.
How could I copy only the files and folders that are not on the external drive?

Thanks in advance.

Configuration: Windows Vista / Firefox 23.0

Good evening,

When you are copying and pasting from your internal hard drive to your external hard drive; if a folder or file is already present, Windows will ask you if you want to replace "this file" with "this file." Just respond no if it’s exactly the same.
In this case, only the new ones will be copied.

I hope I have answered your question.
Have a good evening.

First of all, thank you.

I was expecting this response.
The problem is that when I start the copy, it begins with new folders that can be very large, for example.
And it’s only when Windows encounters an existing folder that it prompts me.
Unfortunately, I don’t spend hours in front of the computer during my backups, and the PC stops on that famous question and waits for me to respond.
If it’s in the middle of the night, I come back the next morning and of course, almost nothing has been copied.

Hi,
I was expecting this answer.... Or the art of wasting one's time and making others waste their time... ;)
If it's so obvious that you would have this answer, which is true, why didn't you specify the context?
Well...

No one has the solution.

Even possibly a software to download that would allow me to manage this?

Look into a robocopy script.

Or software that performs incremental backups (perhaps Cobian Backup?)

Maybe a lead? http://forum.telecharger.01net.com/forum/high-tech/LOGICIELS/Logiciels-divers/recherche-sauvegarde-incrementielle-sujet_366063_1.htm

I have another issue:

1 / I select all my files (850 GB)
2 / Copy
3 / Paste (onto the external hard drive which is filled to 800 GB).
4 / Error message: There is not enough free space on the disk.

When in reality, there are only 50 GB of new files and it fits without any problem.
