Bonjour,

The question from meli200 is quite understandable :). I actually have the same problem but I don't think I'll find an answer here.......

Hello Daisym, when a phone is in communication with an interactive server, the only thing that can be done is to press the numbers 0 to 9 as well as # and *. These numbers are called DTMF (dual-tone multi-frequency) codes. The sound emitted when a button is pressed is recognized by the server. In this standardized code, letters are not used (except for military phones where the letters A, B, C, D appear in addition to the numbered keys).
Regarding Microsoft, if a software activation key does not work, the computer displays Microsoft's phone number as well as a long code consisting only of numbers that must be entered on the Microsoft server to obtain another code to enter in the software activation window (I have done this several times when I was given computers to reinstall).

I am bringing up the topic again because, while entering letters is not useful when inputting a phone number, it is sometimes necessary later to add information as requested by the voice server.
Recent example: I call UPS to get tracking information for the package I am waiting for. The voice server asks me for the parcel number and that number contains letters.

Hi, it's a guess, maybe you need to pronounce the numbers and letters, the voice server recognizes the voice..

Hello, you are absolutely right to ask the question. For example, for the energy voucher for those who work and are below the poverty line like me, you need to enter your tax number, which ends with a letter. And that's where the struggle begins: how to type a letter on an iPhone keyboard? I don’t know much about it, my iPhone isn't recent, but I only have numbers.
