android ringtone resets to default Solved

Question

Hello,

I have a Wiko Cink Five with Android (it's Android that matters here)

My problem is that when I set a ringtone for calls, after a while it resets to the default ringtone (basically, the default ringtone resets itself)

My question is simple: how can I fix this problem?

Hello,
If the ringtone resets to default, it means that at some point, it couldn't find the ringtone file you set.
This can happen, for example, when you store mp3s on your microSD card and the card is unmounted, even for just a moment, for some reason or another.
To resolve the issue, I recommend storing your ringtone in the phone's memory rather than on the memory card.

So I'm bumping this up.

To recap: when I set a ringtone (in aac or mp3 format for example), it automatically resets to default after a few minutes/hours even without turning off the phone.

I have therefore tested, as advised, placing the ringtone on the phone rather than on the SD card, but the same problem persists...

For my part, despite the update, I still have the problem and I'm still looking for the miracle worker who will bring me a solution.

I've tried: SD card, phone, setting from an app, deleting default ringtones, putting my ringtones in the system/media/audio/ringtone folder... Nothing works, but I have the feeling it only goes away after the phone has been turned off for a while.

Additionally, since I've removed the default ringtones, it only beeps. The files I'm using are in mp3 format.

PS: Sorry for this little bump after a few months ;)

Which update are you talking about?

There is none on the Wiko site for the Five

For the ringtones, mine are on my SD card

In the Ringtones folder at its root

It also works in the Ringtones folder of the phone's user memory

There was an automatic update (OTA) a few months ago.  But it doesn't work at my place :/  Do you turn your phone off often?

I had the same problem with my Moto E: every morning, my phone would lose its ringtone... it was simply because of the Llama app that would switch to silent mode at night, and I had foolishly checked the option "change ringtone when this profile is activated" without setting a specific ringtone... I just had to disable this option and everything went back to normal. By now, you must have fixed your issue, but if someone encounters the same difficulty, it might be worth checking that as well...

I assure you I have exactly the same problem with an Honor 8 running Android.
I've already tried everything (storage in different places, SD and phone, different sound formats, etc. etc.)
I'm quite skilled in computers and multimedia; I've had Android smartphones since they came out. I had never encountered this problem....
BUT since I changed my phone, it's a nightmare....
I set a ringtone and after a few days, those contacts end up with a default ringtone. The delay depends on the whims of my phone...sometimes a day, sometimes a month.
The worst part is that it switches back to a default ringtone that isn't my usual one...however, there's no problem with this ringtone or my notifications (both are personalized).
