Automatic startup of my PC

Hello. I have a new Toshiba Satellite C850-F0126 laptop. The problem is that when I open the lid of my laptop, it automatically turns on without me pressing the power button. In other words, Windows 8 starts automatically when I open the lid of the laptop. Note that before opening the lid, the laptop was properly turned off.

    First, you need to know if your computer is turning on or if it's coming out of sleep mode; that's different. Then you can adjust some settings by clicking on the battery icon at the bottom right of the screen (next to the time), then Power Options, and then click on Choose what closing the lid does.
    I think that's all; otherwise, I can't help you.

      I did what you said, but the problem remains the same: when I close the laptop lid, it shuts down normally and I checked that it is not in sleep mode. But when I open the lid, it turns on automatically without me pressing the power button. Thank you in advance for your help.

      In this case, you might need to dig into the Toshiba software because it seems that the brand offers quite a few software options included by default on its PCs, so it would be worth checking... Otherwise, I'm almost sure there's nothing else we can do...

      I have the same problem. When I go to the Toshiba settings, desktop assist (taskbar), there is a system setting and a startup option on opening the screen which is disabled in my case, yet my computer always turns on as soon as I open the lid!
