I haven't seen the film in question: '"White House Down" but I just read a summary that gives no clue to clarify your question. However, I noticed that the American title of the film is "Olympus Has Fallen", which means "Olympus has fallen". In Greek mythology, Mount Olympus was considered the home of the gods and goddesses, particularly Zeus, their leader. "Olympus has fallen" here means: "White House Down" (it's very American to consider the President of the USA as the chief of the gods, lol).

So from that point, we better understand the choice of the code name Cerberus, which is purely symbolic. In Greek mythology, Cerberus was the name of the invincible dog that guarded the entrance to Hades, that is to say, the Underworld (which had nothing to do with the Hell of monotheistic religions). It was the realm of the dead. This Cerberus code is in a way the guardian that prevents the triggering of nuclear hell. Note that mythologies always feed films, songs, ads, and especially video games. For instance, an old video game is called "The Master of Olympus" and the code is called .....Cerberus.

That's just my opinion, I didn't find, indeed, any explanation on Google, but the film is quite recent and is probably not a masterpiece that will be remembered. (I hadn’t even heard of it). But I think this explanation is the most plausible.

Regarding the movie, it's definitely not a masterpiece, far from it; it's even a dumb film for everyone, including myself, it's just an American patriotic and propaganda movie, like so many others.

Thank you for the explanation; it makes sense, since that's what it's about, destroying the entire America by blowing up all the rockets stored here and there.

I thought that name: Code Cerberus, actually existed in security or war or whatever, but it must be, perhaps, just a made-up name in the movie, as Google doesn't mention it anywhere, and I searched in French, English, Spanish, and even Italian, there's nothing!
