alt + number not working Solved

Hello,

While chatting on Facebook, I found out that you can create symbols by combining ALT + numbers.

The problem is that these combinations don't work for me. For example, when I press alt+1 I get: ? The same goes for all number combinations except alt+7: *

When I try it on WORD, no symbol appears.

Do you have a solution?

For a portable keyboard, special characters are done as follows:

1) Hold down "Fn" then "Num Lock" to unlock the keypad.
2) Then press "Alt" and at the same time the numbers above the letters U, I, O...

Examples: to make a heart: ? (I held down "Fn" "Num Lock", then "Alt" "3" (which is above the L) ????????????!??,7??

the number you type corresponds to the ASCII code of the character... for example, look with Alt+144: É
You can also use Alt Gr+key.

Either you are making a mistake while doing it or there is an issue with your browser or your computer, so try on another (browser and computer).

No, I don't think I'm mistaken. I press the ALT key and at the same time the 3 on the numeric keypad to the right. I just tried it on my laptop and it works.
If it works on another PC (which is probably the case since it works for my friends), it won't solve my problem.
And finally, how do I change browsers (I use IE)?

For those who might find it helpful, I found the solution:

First, try a different browser (Google Chrome, Firefox…).
In my case, the symbols (alt+3 = heart) worked with Google Chrome.

Next, you need to reset Internet Explorer:
- open IE and click on the gear icon at the top right (next to the favorites star). Click on "Internet Options".

Then, go to the "Advanced" tab and click on the "Reset..." button.

Check the box "Delete personal settings" and click on the "Reset" button.

Then close the browser and reopen it to see if any changes are visible.
