Dictaphone that won't start anymore

Hello,

I have an iPhone 4 and for some time now, my voice recorder won't launch. When I click on the app, the microphone shows up and then I automatically go back to the home screen of my iPhone...
What should I do? I have recordings saved and I want to listen to them again and also be able to use the app as it's very convenient. Help, knowledgeable ones :-))

Thank you for this quick response. I see that the recordings are saved on my computer during synchronizations (phew).
But when it comes to freeing up space... my iPhone isn't full... could that still be normal?
