Merge 2 iPhone conversation threads

Hello,

A subject regarding a small issue I encountered on my iPhone (4s).
I have a contact (iPhone) with whom I chat very regularly. The thread of iMessage - SMS - MMS discussions goes back quite a way. However, a few days ago, following their sending of a photo via their iPad, a second conversation thread opened for this same contact (same name, same details...)
I can reply to them on one or the other, and they don't see the difference.
I understand that the oldest conversation thread is linked to the iPhone phone number and that the second one that was created recently is linked to the contact's email address.
In my contacts, both the phone number and the email address are listed for this same contact.
My question: is it possible to merge the two conversation threads since it's the same contact?

Thank you.

Hello, unfortunately, it is not possible to merge the two message threads. As you understand, this is because your contact is using two different devices to message you, and from an iPad, iMessages can only be sent to the Apple account address.

Hello, my girlfriend just bought a 4s and she doesn't have any other Apple device, and I'm experiencing the exact same issue... I want to remind you that she doesn't have any other Apple devices --'

Hi Flo, this can indeed happen if the person you're messaging is experiencing network issues or iMessage activation problems. You can easily tell by looking at the conversation bubbles between devices; the bubble colors are gray and blue. When the contact has an issue with iMessage, or if iMessage isn't activated, or if the iPhone doesn't have an internet connection, the bubble colors are gray and green. This causes a different conversation thread.
Additionally, in the last case, if both conversation threads have gray and blue bubbles, it's simply because the message sender has first selected the phone number and another time the email address.

On the iPhone of the contact with whom it does not work, go to settings, then to messages, and in the send and receive section
Under the part where it says "you can be contacted by iMessage..." only the number should be checked.

Delete one.

What a genius! ??? Well no, because deleting it will cause it to be recreated as soon as a new message is received.
