    Hello,

I had the same problem after a Windows crash when I reinstalled Thunderbird.

    Here's how to do it:
    • show hidden files
    • search for the abook.mab file in Documents and Settings/name x/application data/Thunderbird/profiles on the old hard drive.
    • then copy the abook.mab file to replace abook.mab on the new Windows,
    • open Thunderbird and there you go, the old address book is available in Thunderbird.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I retrieved my address book in its entirety.

For your information, I urgently needed to reuse Thunderbird without the old address book, I operated in two stages in order to avoid overwriting the new address book.
_ Export of the new address book collected, then personal addresses
_ Copy of the old address book from my old hard drive. After verification, it's all good
_ Import of the new address book ..

In total, I have a few duplicates, but I recovered all my addresses ..

The trick mentioned above is THE RIGHT FORMULA ... Of course, from Thunderbird to Thunderbird.
