How to open a .img file

Hello, I would like to know how to open a .img file. I saw on other forums that it can be done with Daemon Tools, but I tried and didn't succeed.

Daemon Tools mainly deals with .iso files, but you can always give it a try. Don't forget to create the virtual DVD drive, but at worst, I think it might work with VLC.
