.img=image. You also have .nrg, .iso, etc...
It's just a way to copy a CD (or DVD)
Someone made an exact copy. Rather than transferring the content to their PC and then burning it again, they took a complete picture of the CD.
And you can use it or see what's inside by burning it (with Nero, for example), or use an "emulator" (like Daemon tool, or Alcohol 120%).
The advantage of the emulator is that it supports most formats (Iso, nrg, img) and simulates a burner on your PC. This allows you to see what it contains without burning a CD...
