Hello,

I would like to reset my PC after inadvertently getting a virus on it... Will the virus go away if I reset it?

    Hello,
If by resetting the PC you mean reinstalling Windows, I would say don't touch anything.
Formatting is only useful as a last resort and is a technique often used by weekend computer enthusiasts.
I hope you have an active antivirus. If not, there are plenty of free and effective ones available. A scan with one of them should be enough to eradicate the issue on your computer.
If your antivirus finds nothing, then you have a malware (like adware). In that case, download Malwarebytes.
If the computer is slow ==> AVG PC TuneUp or equivalent (be careful, there are many fakes)
If it finds nothing, then we can consider a partial reinstallation of Windows without data loss.

    Best regards,

It was just an example, but to say that it is absolutely useless... Have you tested it personally or have you just heard negative feedback?

Well, just have to see what the security contributors say.
