Hello,   I would like to reset my PC after inadvertently getting a virus on it... Will the virus go away if I reset it?

Hello, If by resetting the PC you mean reinstalling Windows, I would say don't touch anything. Formatting is only useful as a last resort and is a technique often used by weekend computer enthusiasts. I hope you have an active antivirus. If not, there are plenty of free and effective ones available. A scan with one of them should be enough to eradicate the issue on your computer. If your antivirus finds nothing, then you have a malware (like adware). In that case, download Malwarebytes. If the computer is slow ==> AVG PC TuneUp or equivalent (be careful, there are many fakes) If it finds nothing, then we can consider a partial reinstallation of Windows without data loss. Tune up doesn't bring you more than what it consumes in resources!  If you are convinced that it makes the PC run faster, that's your point of view!!!  I'm not so sure about that; I tested it before and after its installation!  The PC lagged (an infected PC) just as much before as after! Completely agree then, but in the meantime, what do we clean the PC with? Are the other mentioned programs still valid?     There are no miracle software that cleans the PC with a wave of a magic wand! When you go to the doctor, he doesn't give you a blue pill for all the pains!!!  It's the same here, Tune up (suggested a bit higher) and ADWC, without having a diagnosis of the PC, hummmm!
