Virus buda_vfs.img on USB stick?

Hello,

When I connect a USB drive to my PC, the movies downloaded on this USB drive no longer open, including the movies I just downloaded; only the music files remain intact? When I click on the movie, it immediately triggers the software Adobe Photoshop album Editions découvertes 3.2 ??? ? Is it a virus?
Thank you very much for your help, and more...

    Let's summarize: buda_vfs.img is a file created by the Freebox Player when a DVD is inserted while a USB key or external hard drive is connected.

    This file is essential for the Freebox Player to recognize the USB key and the external hard drive. Therefore, it is not a virus.

    It is a "bug" acknowledged by Free:
    https://dev.freebox.fr/bugs/task/8828

    So, please mark the subject as resolved...

    Hello Shrekos,

    The CCM charter requires you to only open one thread for the same issue.
    On one hand, it's a matter of respect towards the volunteers who respond based on their availability and don't have the time to unnecessarily answer multiple posts on the same topics while other users are waiting.
    On the other hand, it doesn't speed things up. On the contrary, it clutters the forum. So start by closing the other two threads you opened, and I will take care of you; otherwise, you won't receive any responses.
    Regards, Bridget.

      Hello Bridget,
      On the USB stick, I have a file buda_vfs.img that makes it impossible to watch the downloaded movies. By right-clicking: properties: I was able to open the documents with VLC. However, the buda file remains on the stick, even after deleting it? Is it a virus?
      Thank you in advance for your help. Best regards.

    Hello Bridget,
    I have the buda_vfs.img file on my USB drive that was preventing me from watching downloaded movies. By right-clicking and opening the document with VLC, I can watch the movies again. The buda_vfs.img file still remains on the USB, even though it's empty? Is it a virus? Thank you for replying.

      It is a file created by the Freebox TV as soon as a USB stick is connected; this file automatically allows you to access information about the content of your USB stick
      Example: if you place a movie on a USB stick, once connected to the TV box
      the buda file is automatically created,
      once your movie is played, you can click the information button, and you will then have details about your movie, summary... release years... actors... the director...

    Hello Shrekos,

    I read your message well and I will help you, but I ask you to be patient because I have several people to take care of and I am currently helping someone else. Don't worry, just because we don't respond right away doesn't mean that the messages aren't being taken into account. As I said, we are volunteers and are not constantly behind our computer. I'll take care of you as soon as possible :)

    PS: In the meantime, please complete this report which will help me see what is wrong with your PC. It's simple and quick to do. Download ZHPDiag here:
    https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/24803-zhpdiag/

    - For installation location, choose: Desktop
    - Follow the prompts during installation,
    check "Add an icon to the desktop" and uncheck "Run ZHPDiag"
    You will see 3 new icons on your desktop: ZHPDiag, ZHPFix, and MBRcheck.

    - On Windows XP, launch ZHPDiag by double-clicking the ZHPDiag icon. You must have administrator rights on the PC.

    - ZHPDiag opens: If the window is too wide, reduce it to see all the buttons.
    - Click on the one with the green arrow on the right, to update ZHPDiag.
    - Then click on the one that looks like a magnifying glass on the left to "Start the diagnosis".
    - If you're prompted to disable UAC, do it.
    - Let the scan run. A message will notify you when it’s finished.
    - Save the report on your Desktop using the icon that looks like a floppy disk.
    - Host the ZHPDiag.txt report on the site: http://pjjoint.malekal.com

    How to do it?
    * Go to http://pjjoint.malekal.com
    * Click the "Browse" button
    * Select the file you want to host and click Open
    * Click the Send button
    * A confirmation message appears (The upload was successful! - The link to share with your contact to view the file is, for example: https://pjjoint.malekal.com/files.php?id=df5ea299241015
    * Copy this link and paste it into your response.

    If something is unclear, feel free to ask :)
    Best regards, Bridget.

    Sorry for the "harassment." I'm worried, perhaps unnecessarily, but I'm afraid I have a virus. I downloaded the 3 programs, but ZHPDiag, run as an administrator, is asking for a password. I chose one, but it's being refused. What should I do? I can't go any further. Thank you for your help :)

      The most important thing in computing (just like in life) is not to panic. It only leads to making mistakes. :) It's before that we should "worry" (before going to a site, before downloading software, clicking on a link, or opening an attachment, etc... A simple click is enough to get infected. An antivirus only protects against viruses and not at 100%. The best protection is us and our way of surfing.

      Are you the administrator of the PC or is it someone else?

      This file is a permanent storage space for the BD-Live feature of the Blu-ray player, which is a constraint imposed by the specification.

      I thank you, XavierH, for your help. I was extremely worried thinking that this file was a virus. But since that is not the case, I feel better. Good luck to all of you for this beautiful and great solidarity. :)

      So since you are on Windows XP, launch zhpdiag by double-clicking on the Zhpdiag icon as indicated in the instructions.

    Bridget,
    The procedure went smoothly, concluding: the treatment was successful. However, I couldn’t save the report with the magnifying glass icon, which was rejected. I thought of copying it, but it’s impossible to do so with a right-click. What should I do?
    Thank you for everything :)

      I followed the comment: "unable to find the folder My Documents right-click on the My Documents icon, click on Properties, then check that the path to the destination folder is correct."
      It shows me: target: settin/ showroom de Boulogne/ My Documents
      3 options: default values move search for the target

      What should I do?

    I don't understand anything about what you're saying. Who told you to click on "My documents"? The ZHPDiag.txt report should be on your desktop. Everything is clearly stated in the instructions I gave you earlier. Here they are again:

    How to proceed?
    * Go to http://pjjoint.malekal.com
    * Click on the "Browse" button
    * Select the file you want to host (that is, the ZHPDiag.txt report located on your desktop) and click Open
    * Click on the Send button
    * A confirmation message will appear (The upload was successful! - The link to share with your correspondents to view the file is for example: https://pjjoint.malekal.com/files.php?id=df5ea299241015
    * Copy this link and paste it into your response.

      buda_vfs.img is created by the Freebox Revolution to be able to detect and read the USB stick.
