Hello,

I have just acquired your Toshiba RDXV50KF device to convert my old VHS tapes into DVD discs.

It works very well, but I can't read the DVDs on my Mac OS Leopard or my MacBook Pro.

      Hello,

      Try VLC and/or install Perian, they play almost all types of video files.
      There should be a recording option in the preferences of this "device," did you check?
      What is the extension of these recordings?

      You open a new topic with the subject, I don't use iMovie and wouldn't be able to advise you. The big expert (among other subjects) is Francis (Sanspseudo), if he reads this, he'll respond to you. Clearly state your problem, other participants are certainly able to respond.

    Hello,

    I'm intruding...

    A Mac can read video DVDs without the help of third-party software, using the built-in software on every Mac, DVD Player.
    If DVD Player does not read this DVD like any standard DVD, then there is an issue. Most often, this issue when using a standalone recorder is that the DVD is not "finalized." It is somewhat like a "closing" of the DVD. This procedure is often necessary for DVDs burned from a standalone recorder (sometimes from a PC as well).
    A standard DVD is burned in UDF format and must be "finalized." This type of DVD should be readable on any standard player and, of course, on a Mac without third-party software. Check the manual carefully; you should have a section regarding finalization.

    As for iMovie, you cannot import a movie from a standard DVD. The video needs to be converted. But rather than producing a DVD from this standalone recorder, it would be wiser to choose a format that is directly compatible with iMovie if the recorder allows. For example, the mp4 format. Otherwise, convert the DVD with Handbrake or ffmpeg to a .dv file, or H264, or mpeg4...

    I have the same Toshiba, and here is my problem. I copied VHS onto a DVD, I finalized my DVD. Everything is fine, except that I would like to make copies of this DVD, going through the hard drive, but it's impossible. The "duplication" icon is not displayed. It's a Verbatim DVD+R.
    Does anyone have a solution?

      Just to remind you :-)

      For your problem, there's the disk utility that can handle the copies.
      Otherwise, there are third-party software like Toast (paid) or others, which you can find through Google. (burning software for Mac OS)

    Good evening!!! (sorry) I've been racking my brain for two hours trying to find a solution. I don't have a Mac but a simple PC. I have DVD Shrink, but it doesn't recognize this DVD so I can't copy it. What other software?
    With the Toshiba, is there no solution??

      Sorry, but you are on the Mac OS forum, so you need to post on the Windows dedicated forum.
      Or look for a burning software for your Windows (XP, Seven....)
