Hello, I would like you to help me solve my problem. I am in Spain in Madrid for an internship and I am staying with someone who has a Telefonica box. With my Mac, I cannot connect to it, but I can connect with my iPhone. I would like to know how to resolve this because I need internet access. I enter the correct password, but the computer keeps giving me a connection timeout every time.

Thank you for your replies
Simon

First, you can put your iPhone in hotspot mode (tethering) and then connect it via USB to your Mac.

In Airport, connect to your iPhone.

Launch Safari, then in the address bar enter: 198.161.0.1 or 198.161.1.1

You should see a window asking for a password and an identifier

    Normally it's: Password: password
    ID: admin

Press enter. You will enter the box. Once in the box, explore and change the settings to establish the connection.

Attention, l'iPhone doit être connecté au réseau Wi-Fi en question.

Thank you for the advice; I will set my iPhone to hotspot mode to use the connection, but I don't understand why it's not working.
Do you think it's possible that the channel is not the same, and that's why I can't connect?

I think it's more of a port issue or router restriction. Buy an Ethernet cable to connect directly to the box.

Alright, I'll try to do that.
    Thank you for your help.
But I was able to connect easily when I was at the hotel.
    It's strange.
