Avidemux and crash...

Hello,

I have Avidemux 2.6 (32bits) on Windows Vista.

At first, it was going quite well. Until I started getting a message that says "Please Press OK to build crash info." And either the program closes the video I was working on, or it totally shuts down the program.

When I restart it, it asks me if I want to reopen the previous file. I say OK.

(I have sometimes said "no." But that has the same outcome.)

However, when I resume the modifications, I get the same message again.

I have searched on the internet, and to me, it's all gibberish.

It's quite annoying because sometimes everything goes well, but then it happens. It's even more so, having had a hard time finding software that can read my codecs.

Could you please tell me the steps to follow?

Thank you.

**EDIT**

This might be important, but when I save each cut, the "Build Crash Info" seems to occur less frequently.
Even more rarely, when I press Play or another arrow, it automatically gives me this message.

Another issue:
When I want to save (to replace an existing file for example), it says "Can't open C./....." 22 Invalid argument) then "ERROR Cannot create avi file", "MUXER Cannot open", and finally, "Failed. Wasn't saved correctly". In this case, I have to save under a new name. What could be the reason for this?

Thanks again for your help.

Hello,

I don’t understand what's happening to you but try version 2.5.6, see HERE I think, which seems more stable than version 2.6.1.
However, if you are cutting your file, try to do it with a direct stream copy at first, only then will you re-encode your file.

After that, you might consider trying Freemake Video Converter (only install that!), which allows you to select parts of a video, but this software requires re-encoding the file and the MP3 seems to be in VBR which is not really a problem in itself.

Best regards
