Hello,

I'm really stuck, I have a problem with my Antivirus, which is Avast, but it’s asking for my password, I didn't even know there was one, I'm very inexperienced with computers, so please keep your answer SIMPLE, because I don't understand much... thanks in advance.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 9.0

Ok, I just saw that it is indeed possible to protect Avast with a password, which is absurd. To disable this, you need to right-click on the Avast icon at the bottom right, then click on "Open Avast user interface". Once the interface is displayed, click on "Settings" located at the top right (orange key icon), then click on "Password", and uncheck the option "Protect Avast! with a password". Finally, click on "OK" and close the interface, it should be fixed.

I don't know who set up your PC like this, but in any case, they are a complete idiot.

If you are the only user of this PC, there is absolutely no need to burden yourself with a ton of passwords, it's just another insane trend.

Hello

You need to boot into safe mode to delete a file "aswResp.dat", tap the F8 key at startup

Start > Computer > Organize > Folder and Search Options > View > check Show hidden files, folders, and drives > Apply > OK >
Now click > Start > Computer > your hard drive > Open > ProgramData > Avast Software > Avast > And then delete AswResp.dat > empty your Recycle Bin
And that's it
(Don't forget to uncheck Don't show hidden files, folders, and drives)

Well, I've just discovered something because I didn't know either that Avast asked for a password. I have the free version of Avast myself, and it has never asked me for a password; that's really strange.

Has someone in your circle configured your PC? Or installed some "things"?

Thank you Paco Rabanne, but it's too complicated for me, I don't understand half of it. I will try to send a private message to someone, I don't even know how to do that.... Hope to see you soon.

Thank you Paco, let me explain that I'm trying to send you a private message, if I manage to do it later
Do I need to check the box to receive by email if I want you to reply to me in a private message??? I'm doing it anyway, but I would like, if you don't mind, for you to reply to me in a private message.
