Hello,

Since yesterday, my computer has been giving me messages saying that my computer is not running a genuine version of Windows. However, I bought this Windows nearly 6 months ago, and I am being asked to download an update but it doesn't change anything, and on their site, they are offering me to buy Windows.
Can someone help me solve this problem, please?

Thank you

Did you really buy it?

I was expecting this question and yes, I bought it on Rue du Commerce at the end of August and it has been installed since then (never formatted, no BIOS updates, ...)
I don't understand, I thought it might be a faulty update from them, but apparently not :(

Hello,

Check out these 2 tutorials:
--> Activate Windows 7
--> Legalize Windows

Give me the error code since there are often corrective updates and I could help you based on that.

I bought this Windows almost 6 months ago

Given that it is still under warranty, maybe I should return to the seller to have them take the necessary steps to make it official?

Error code 0x8004fe21

Otherwise, I will send an email with the invoice, but I don't know if it will work...

You should do that ^^ but also send an email to Microsoft or you can even call them (Crystal number 09 70 01 90 90 non-surcharged call)

I found it, or at least it's not happening to me anymore.
All I had to do was open the console and type SVUI to restart an authentication check.

PS: I called this number, it's actually only to register the key the first time.
I also had to call Rue du Commerce, since it's the resellers who handle OEM issues.
No one could answer me: the famous ping-pong effect between customer service and the sales department which ultimately led to a completely absurd solution:
“Sir, the problem is, in my opinion, likely due to the hard drive that has probably failed.”
They didn't even give me a Microsoft number.

Moral of the story: Rue du Commerce customer service -> USELESS.

Cdiscount is the same, I assure you it's real s***, it took me 10 calls for a semblance of a solution ^^

I may have found the ultimate solution to the activation problem
if the error code is 0x8004fe21, do this (English only)

This solution is the only one that worked for me... restoring Windows to an earlier point did not work for me. So try the following

1) Click Start button.
2) Type: CMD.exe into the `Search programs and files' field
3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
8) Type: net start sppsvc
9) Type: slui.exe
10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.

It's been a while, but the solution above won't work for long.

The problem actually came from a GUI that I had installed.

A formatting and everything is back in order...

Moral: Even if a GUI for Windows looks nice, it might not necessarily be good for your machine...
