Hello,
For a birthday, I was asked to create a video montage, and I want to make it in the style of a news broadcast like BFM TV, with the time, lower thirds, the news ticker, etc.—but obviously I won’t include real news; I’ll rather put anecdotes about the person celebrating their birthday, the famous live banner, etc. However, I don’t want to do interviews or cross-border reports; I’m just interested in the formatting. I’ve searched in vain for decent software for this kind of montage—could you help me? First of all I want to thank you for your quick, clear and precise response. I am a beginner in video editing; I’ve only done two projects. I’m more comfortable with photo editing, photo albums, and photo retouching. That’s why I need help and even a lot of help. So it’s true I should have said earlier: I don’t want journalists or a presenter on a green screen, I just want the “set” (this set would stay for the entire duration of the video) that is to say the news tickers at the bottom, the logo at the top left, the "live" logo on the right, and then possibly the time but it would stay fixed since I would choose its time of birth. Once I have this set, I would overlay as in the tutorial you provided the photos. I’m ready to give you my email address (if you’re willing) to get more tips and guidance to best succeed in this montage. In the tutorial you gave me, the news ticker stays the same; is that possible (while keeping the video’s aesthetics and making it clean without it looking patched) to change the text to be able to add anecdotes about the photos as in the video provided.

Good evening Samantha; I’m feeling better today and I can write to you now. Thank you for your support; I didn’t think there were people as kind on forums nowadays, that’s becoming rare. I apologize for my delay, but I’ve just recovered from an illness. A flu paired with bronchitis plus a fever rising to 41 degrees, that doesn’t mix well, hence my trip to the emergency room with our friends the firefighters. Anyway, I’m feeling better. I reiterate my thanks for the video which was very helpful to me. Despite this very good tutorial, I have a few initial questions (surely not the last, to my great regret, because you probably have better things to do). Before asking you these questions I already tried to inform myself (for example: a stupid question but one I thought important, whether with this software you could make an end title and yes I even found a tutorial). My questions: 1- Is it the same procedure to insert an image (because I would like to alternate image and video)? 2- Can I keep the BFM mask (headlines etc.) to place my photos? 3- Is it possible after a while to add a commercial jingle, remove the BFM mask, and put it back later? 4- To capture the screen I do it normally because I’d like to have a screenshot with the info banner “world categories.” 5- Does Sony Vegas Pro have image transitions to avoid making it look like a slideshow as in Windows Movie Maker? 6- Since you’re used to doing this kind of editing, could you help me find the format needed to project it onto a video projector (to ensure it works, so I don’t end up with a montage that won’t play or with missing audio or jagged video)? 7- I think it’s the same as for the logo change time if I want to change the logo. I already have the logo. If not, could you give me the method? 8- Can I add a soundtrack? Those are my first questions. I know I’m somewhat annoying, but I really want it to be successful; it would bother me to blow it, especially for such an important anniversary, and that of my cousin :) Thank you again for taking the time.
