Unable to get MacBook Pro projector working Closed

Hello,

I've had a big problem for about 2 months now, I can't get my projector to work with my MacBook Pro, it's a Philips PicoPix and I bought the adapter for Macs, but I can't get it to work, "no signal" endlessly

On top of that, my Mac crashes when the projector is connected, and I know it works because I managed to get it to work once by some miracle, but it was just a one-time thing

Yet the projector works perfectly on a PC or with a USB stick, it's a little gem, but of course with Mac, impossible.. as soon as possible, I'm ditching this MacBook to go back to Windows!

I made a short video to show my problem, I hope someone will be able to help me, I'm so fed up with my brilliant projector sitting unused, it drives me crazy!

Hello.

What model of Mac do you have, and what adapter did you buy? (Mini DVI, Micro DVI, Mini Display).

When you plug in your projector, does the display on your MacBook change?
Have you tried going to system preferences > Displays, and clicking on "Detect Displays" after connecting the projector?

I use projectors daily at my school, most students are equipped with MacBooks of all models, and I've never seen this kind of problem. There must be a simple solution.

Hi, yes I also hope there is a simple solution :(

My Mac is a MacBook Pro that is not even 2 months old, it's the cheapest one (so the one with the least powerful processor)

The adapter I bought was given to me by the Apple store when I asked for an adapter to connect a projector the day I bought the Mac, it's a mini display

The Mac reacts (watch the video), there is a brief blue screen then the spinning rainbow goes on forever so I can't go into detect displays, but I noticed that even though it wasn't visible on the screen, it "works anyway," meaning I clicked around a bit and when unplugging the projector some apps were open so I think it detects the projector.. weird

I installed the driver for Mac but it doesn't change anything, and anyway once the projector is connected I can't touch anything because the computer freezes, or the mouse moves but I can't click on anything.

You might have a solution here, with a USB connection from the Picopix:

Have you tried connecting your Mac to a screen other than the Picopix? To identify the nature of the problem (Mac or projector).

With a quick search, I can't find anyone with the same issue as yours :/

Ah, with the USB technique it works... well, almost. I see "connected" for 3 seconds, then the image disappears again... but I feel like I'm going to find a solution. In the tutorial they say to "detect monitors," but the option is removed on Mountain Lion...
