LCD screen crackles then turns off

Hello
I have a problem with my Sony LCD screen: when I turn it on it buzzes (a loud buzz) then turns off... every time I try to turn it on it does the same thing (I see the image for a second, it buzzes then turns off). I tried changing the graphics card and it didn't change anything. Same with changing the power cable. I set the screen up on another computer and it does the same thing (even though it worked fine on that other computer before).
Do you think my screen is dead (no longer under warranty)?
What could be the problem? Could it be a power surge issue? (there's no ground socket at my place)
I would at least like to know what might have triggered this and how to avoid it in the future (because if I buy a new screen and it happens again, I won't be happy!!!)

I have the same problem as all of you, I haven't solved it and by digging around, I realize the inevitable: the screen is dead. You know, every screen has a limited lifespan, and well, here is the end of ours... My friend told me that it’s probably a demagnetization issue due to wear. So this is not a 100% certain answer, but these are my conclusions. If you’ve found something else, please let me know :) Good luck.
