No INTEL connection detected on this computer. Solved/Closed

Question

Hello, I’m reaching out to you today regarding an issue with the network card/driver. I need to format a PC, so far so good :) It’s a HP Compaq EVO D510 EPC. It’s a professional PC, in the company premises, I connected the PC to the internet for the first time, it worked but it was an old thing, running XP SP1 so the simplest thing for me was to reinstall it with XP SP3. Anyway, I take it home and start backing up data but I needed the internet for something and there, I can't connect via ethernet to my Freebox (it was connected via ethernet in their premises). After a while, I let it be and tell myself that I would probably see more clearly after the reinstallation.  I reinstall, everything goes well, I find the drivers for the PC online (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=fr &cc=fr&prodNameId=97129&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=96300&swLang=17&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093)  All the drivers work except... of course the network one! The recommended one opens a command prompt and then closes, I tried other versions but during the installation it tells me “No Intel connection detected on this computer” and it doesn't install anything.. There is no network connection in the control panel, and nothing resembling a network controller in the device manager. I haven't dismantled the machine since it's a controller integrated into the motherboard so it's definitely connected :D  Strangely enough: I thought I would plug in a USB Wi-Fi stick, but the driver doesn't work, it installs, the utility does too, but the stick has a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager and it doesn’t recognize the driver...  Does anyone have an idea?  Configuration: Windows Seven Premium 64 Bit Intel Core i5 - 650 (4.2 GHz) 4GB of RAM Ati Radeon 5770 HD

I don't see how to manually install the card since it doesn't appear in the Device Manager. I've tried with the Wi-Fi card; when I select the folder, it says it can't find the driver...  Thanks for your help anyway!

by doing "add new hardware" in the control panel and choosing network card.  in your unnamed folder there is a folder "pro100" you need to select the file "E100a325.inf"  look at what we've done to the world, look at what we're leaving to our kids

I tried to add new hardware, but there's no trace of the card.. I have the Microsoft loopback adapter, miniport Tun card (I installed it anyway, but I didn’t see any result), Bluetooth device. And in another category, I have my Wi-Fi adapter, but when I install it, it doesn't work.  For the unnamed folder, I don't know what you're talking about, could you clarify?  Thanks.

If you have software like izarc (which is software like winrar), if you haven’t installed it, right-click on the executable you downloaded named "sp41804" and choose "izarc" then "open with izarc".  You will then have a folder named "sp41804" and inside it the pro100 folder.  With that, you’ll perform a manual installation.  Install from a list or specified location Do not search Provided disk Browse Go to the unzipped driver folder --> sp41804 Open the folder "pro100" Then the folder "win32" Inside, you will have a folder and three files Select nothing and click open then "ok" You will have a list of network cards, choose yours and click "next" Restart your pc  Look at what we’ve done to the world, look at what we’re leaving to our kids.

Personally, I use 7-zip ;) I did what you told me, I installed "intel 8255x-based fast ethernet", but I still don't have any network connections. I installed "Intel(R) 82559 Fast Ethernet LAN On Motherboard" but still no network connection... I have a long list of Intel components, is there a specific one I need to install? Intel pro/100, but which one?

Both have failed, in the device manager, I see all the drivers I've installed since a while ago with a yellow exclamation mark, and when I open it, it says in the info area: "This device cannot start. (code 10). Furthermore, I also have (still in the network card tab) an unknown device that I didn't have before and that doesn't have an exclamation mark; in the info window, it says "No driver is installed for this device". I think I'm good to install all the drivers on the list?  Edit: I want to clarify that I tried right-clicking to update the driver with e100a235 and that it didn't work either...

I am on 32. For the installation, I just saw that you added the exact procedure, or maybe I didn't see it before.. It differs from what I do: I add the hardware and then, according to that, the window you mentioned appears, I do as you said but in the end I don't get the list of drivers but a window that says it hasn't found the right software. So I click ok and then another window comes up asking:  Have you already connected the hardware to the computer? So I click yes (no it doesn't work), then I get a list of peripherals but no network card, so I click "add a new hardware device" then I install the hardware that I manually select from the list, then I choose network card and then I select the driver...

Well, that's how I've been doing it from the beginning lol.  And, well, it's not working..., I just restarted but still no network connection. In the device manager, I have - Intel(R) 82559 Fast Ethernet LAN On Motherboard (with an exclamation point) - Unknown device (with an exclamation point that wasn't there before.)  The unknown device has no hardware ID, the Intel(R) 82559 Fast Ethernet LAN On Motherboard has: pci\ven_8086&dev_1229&subsys_01bc1014&rev_09 (I found it in the "hardware ID" section under the details tab)

- Intel(R) PRO/100 M Desktop Adapter (with exclamation mark) - Unknown device (with exclamation mark)  and the PC asks me every 30 seconds for the driver for something called "Net" but I can't find it in the manager... I've tried to install the drivers we've had since earlier but it doesn't accept them.

Thank you for your help as well, I followed your instructions, but first of all, I can only select a directory, not a file. So I chose win32, but the installer cannot find the software to install. I haven't restarted to see the result since it tells me that it didn't work..

I have an error message, I'm not allowed. But I am already in admin session, which is strange because I thought it only appeared in safe mode. When I right-click, run as... I either have Administrator/MALB (MALB is the name of the session I set during installation) or the admin session. Neither of the two works.

We agree... the worst part is that the network was working before moving it from its original location. I went online, I even downloaded Firefox (which probably couldn't install because the PC had never received updates). If it had never worked, I would have concluded with a "it's broken" lol but now... Thank you both for helping me, really! If you have any other ideas, don't hesitate! And if you're really motivated, we can discuss exchanging emails privately for a TeamViewer session if you want to see for yourself...

Go to the Control Panel Folder Options View tab Check --> show hidden files and folders Uncheck --> hide extensions for known file types Apply and OK. When I go there with Windows Explorer, I can see it, but when installing a driver, you can’t select a file, only a folder (but that's always been the case!). And when I select the "Win32" folder that contains the e100b325.inf file, I get "Unable to continue the hardware update wizard. The wizard cannot find better software for your device than what is currently installed."

"Unable to uninstall the device. The device may be required for starting the computer."  As for the command prompt, we're facing the same issue as last time, unable to run it as admin.  So I restarted in Safe Mode to check, and in the manager, I have 5 different miniports, two Intel® miniport, a Microsoft Tun miniport, a "direct parallel," all without exclamation marks, and my unknown device with its point...  Of course, impossible to uninstall.  I still have the PC this weekend; after that, it will go back to the office and will be sent to the IT service provider, so don't wear yourselves out too much...
