Hello,

My mother and I each have an iPhone, and we use the same Apple account. Yesterday, we updated to iOS 6. Since then, when I send a text message, it shows up on her iPhone and we both receive replies from my contacts! And vice versa, and as a result, if I send her a text, I receive my own text back… Anyway, not great.

I created a second Apple account and connected my iPhone to it thinking this would solve the problem, but it didn’t change anything...

How can we stop this?!

Hello,

Having had the same problem (iPhone 4 and iPhone 5C), whenever I received a text on the iPhone 4, it would automatically come to my iPhone 5C as well.

What I did:

On the iPhone 5C / Settings / Messages / Send & Receive / and I unchecked the number of the iPhone 4.
With the update, certain settings change automatically.

And now, it works perfectly! :-)

Hello Bondinette, when we have two devices that share iMessages and/or calls and/or regular SMS, we need to "untie" the devices.
Go to Settings/ Phone, under Calls on Other Devices, turn off the option Allow Calls on Other Devices.
Go to Settings / iMessage, enable the iMessage option, then go to Text Message Forwarding, if a device appears there, disable the option. Return to iMessage, go to Send & Receive, uncheck the email addresses and phone number(s) of the other device(s), leaving only the phone number corresponding to the activated device.
Depending on the iOS version of your iPhone, the menus may vary slightly or may not be present on your device(s).

Do not touch this configuration anymore; it should resolve your issue. It may take up to 24 hours for the changes to take effect.

Hi, if you found the solution, please mark your post as resolved...
You found that it was enough to modify the iMessage settings on each iPhone, don't forget to make the same adjustment to the Facetime settings.

Hi, on each device go to Settings then Phone, then On Other Nearby Devices and disable Calls on Other Devices.
