Excel: adjust text size to cell

Hello,

In Excel 2003, I have a table whose cell sizes I don't want to change.

When I enter long text, I want the text size to decrease in order to fit the cell.

Through the menu cell format --> alignment, I am able to wrap text automatically or adjust the text size, but not both at the same time.

Having long text written in small font on a single line does not help me, as my cells are sized to contain 4 lines of characters.

Is there a trick to achieve what I want?

Thank you for your help.

No (except, perhaps with a macro in VBA)

Okay, thanks for the response, it will save me from looking for nothing,

and I will avoid the macro, because I don't master it at all.

The trick is to decrease the font size yourself until the text fits in the cell.

You can also replace the text with a hyperlink that takes you to a text file or a Word document where you can read comfortably, or to another sheet in your Excel file where you have enough space to display your text clearly.

Just right-click on the cell and choose "Format Cells."
In the central area of the "Text Control" pop-up, check "Wrap text."

Hello ptales,
I did try your solution, but as syl20-11 pointed out, ☑ Adjust
works alone; unfortunately, with ☑ Wrap text
it doesn't work anymore! Even if you check ☑ Adjust before typing in a
multi-line text (in the same cell)!
Best regards. 😊
