Hello,
I have tons and tons of .zip files on my hard drive, which I have extracted into another folder, etc. Since these files take up space, I wanted to know if deleting them would affect the .rar files or not.
Thank you in advance :)
PS: I have no idea if the question is in the right place, so I apologize in advance :face:

Hi.
The thing is simple. If you have the zip file and the folder from extracting that zip, you essentially have a duplicate file.
For practical reasons, it is common to keep only the extracted content from the archives and then get rid of the archives, but you can also extract, use the content, and then delete the extracted folder in order to keep the zip for future use.
It depends on the content of the archives and the storage space you have.
P.S.: There is therefore no link between the archive and its content once extracted.

J have a question; if I take a folder that I rarely consult, I zip it to take up less space. Can I then delete the original folder?
