Hello,
I bought an Acer laptop less than a month ago. I have a problem with the screen and the seller has brushed me off:
the screen automatically dims and as soon as I increase the brightness it immediately dims again (like a screensaver while I'm working on it).
I think it just needs to be configured, but I don't know anything about it.
Thank you in advance for your response.Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Good evening,
Indeed, for a screen brightness issue, the problem often comes from the inverter (which is not very expensive and easy to replace for someone who knows a bit about DIY).
It is essential to ensure that the screen works well without the backlight.
For the issue of HEDelphine, the poster of this topic, for a laptop purchased less than a month ago, this is not "normal" (unless it's an exhibition model…)
In this case, it is the seller's responsibility to cover the repair or to proceed (immediately if possible) with an exchange for another laptop (same model), also requesting the transfer of data from the hard drive.
If the seller is dismissive of the customer, I do not recommend throwing the laptop at them but rather asking to speak to the manager, the director, or contacting a consumer association.
See you later.

With your laptop, there is a manual... and to your surprise, there is the user guide for the settings!!!
Good evening,
"the seller brushed me off"... the best thing would be to go back to that seller with your phone under your arm and act tough.
After selling it to you, he certainly has a few minutes to spare.

As of today, the LCD inverter for a Travelmate 292LCI cost me €77 in Canada, including expedited shipping (7 days) and 20 minutes of installation (within everyone's reach).
For your information, the reseller who sold me the laptop wanted €1000 for the repair (and just like that, we change the screen!) and several weeks of waiting… Enough is enough!

Hello.
I just saw your message on a forum. I have the same problem as you regarding the brightness of my laptop...
Have you solved the problem? If so, can you tell me how you did it?
Thank you.

if you've solved your problem, let me know the solution, because I've been having the same issue for a while
whereas at first I could adjust the brightness, now it darkens as soon as I try to lighten it.

Good evening everyone!
I'm jumping in on this topic because I have the same issue as the young lady since yesterday...
Let me explain quickly.
To turn on the PC, I have 2 options: use my battery or use the mains.
When I use the battery, my screen isn't very bright, quite dark... but I guess that's for energy saving.
When I use the mains, usually the light colors return on my screen and everything is fine.
However, since yesterday, when I plug into the mains, the colors are dark, as if my battery was still running... I don't know where that comes from, I don't know how to fix the problem!
I tried to increase the brightness with the Fn + Sun buttons... but nothing works...
Do you think it's an inverter problem?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
I have a similar issue with my Acer Aspire 6920G laptop. Under Windows 7, the FN + right or left arrow combination to adjust the brightness doesn't work... However, when I perform this action at the startup screen before Windows launches, it works. So I conclude that it's not a malfunction of my hardware but probably something else, and it's quite annoying... The other combinations with the FN key work perfectly. If someone could help me, I would be grateful.
Best regards
