Hello, I just bought professional photo editing software (Binuscan Photo Retouch Pro) which comes with a dongle: an encrypted and protected USB key.
It does not work without it.
I am a photographer and I often travel... so I risk losing this dongle and then I will no longer be able to use it!!!
I asked if it was possible to get another one but they told me it's impossible or it would cost the price of the purchased software which is nearly €2500!!!!!! I find this unacceptable because these small keys on a PowerBook are easily lost...
Do you know of any ways to copy this dongle even abroad or are there dongle generators?
Once again, I have a license for this software and I'm just looking for a personal backup in case I lose it while traveling on my PowerBook.
Thank you all!

Well, yes, we can copy it:
- disassemble the key
- look at the electrical diagram
- disassemble all the chips
- analyze them
- program a PIC with the code found
- rebuild another circuit
But it's really not something the average person can do (nor the last one either!)
That's why the dongle is an effective protection...;->
