Merge two partitions in Windows seven

Hello,

I have an external hard drive with two partitions: one with an OS and the other with programs. I manually deleted some programs, and since I couldn't delete files from the OS, I started by right-clicking on disk management and then deleted one partition. Now I have an unallocated partition of 224 GB and a free partition of 226 GB. I don't know how to merge them, and I want to format the drive afterward. However, it no longer appears in My Computer.
Thank you for your help.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 13.0.1

    - Start
    - In the menu, right-click on Computer
    - Click on Manage
    - A window appears, in the menu on the left, click on Disk Management
    - Right-click on the partition that you don't need (right-click on D: in my case)
    (- Click on format)
    - Click on "delete volume"
    - Now right-click on C: and click on extend volume
    - Follow the instructions "stupidly" without touching anything until the end

Hello, except that for me "extend volume" on disk C is grayed out.
      Why
      Thank you

I don't have the "extend volume" option... I have unallocated disk space, and I would like to merge it with my /D partition.
    How to do that?

If you want to keep nothing, delete all partitions. Then create a new one.

      Hello.
      You cannot merge two partitions.
It is necessary to delete the D:/ partition to have an Unallocated partition, then you can expand the C:/ partition.
