Windows Taskbar Windows (Seven)

Hello,

I have a problem that is wasting my time and annoying me on my machine.
I have Windows Seven 64 bits.
The problem is that when I want to put a window in "fullscreen" (i.e., the maximize option or drag-and-drop to the top of the screen), the bottom of my window goes under the taskbar, making everything at that level inaccessible when the window is automatically maximized.

I haven't found any solutions on the internet for my problem; all I found was the opposite problem.
The only method I have found so far to somewhat counter the issue is to hide the taskbar (not practical at all since I use Windows Live Messenger), or to minimize the windows when I need to access the options located in the lower part of my software.

Notes:
- When I place my taskbar at the top/right/left, the window still goes beneath the taskbar when I maximize it.
- If I maximize a window, activate "auto-hide the taskbar," and then disable this option, the window then maximizes correctly without going under the taskbar.
- When I partially maximize my window by dragging it to the left/right, I have no issues; the window does not go under the taskbar.

That's it; if I don't have enough information, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help, and thank you for the site; this is the first time I've had to post on the forum; usually, someone has encountered the problem before me! ^^
Configuration: Windows 7 - 64 bits Firefox 3.5.5

!!!! SOLUTION FOUND ON AN ANGLOPHONE SITE !!!!

The "Automatically hide the taskbar" toggle option wasn't working for me either.

The issue is due to the "explorer" process running. To fix it, you need to stop this process and restart it. The problem is that once explorer is closed, you won't have access to the taskbar, etc., which is normal!
    The solution is:
    - Ctrl+Alt+F4: Open Task Manager
    - Processes tab: select "explorer.exe" and click "End Process"
    - Applications tab: click "New Task"
    - Create a new task: open "explorer" (type it in), then OK

    This should fix everything :)
